Fitz, his work involves development! Not developing junior football but, negotiating deals in places like Hong Kong for Landowner Councils in New Guinea with International Developers and Industrialists. Important given the pillaging that has gone before from European, Malay and Indonesian Brigands, Bush Bashers and Vandals!
But hey, like someone said in another thread, don't let facts encroach on a good story! |

acutally Fitz, Mal went 6 or 7 times last year i think i read in an article on the bomber website. His deal with the bombers was not for less training time every week, but for time off severtal times a year to trvel for his business interests. Thats what happenned last year and from what i read will happen again this year.
Not sure what he asked of the Lions, only what the deal was with the Bombers.
One other point, Lions did not demolish the bombers in 2001. The younger fitter team ran out 26 point victor on GF day, hardly a thrashing, especially when a few of the bombers stars were underdone. Not really important, just thought id clear that up. |

what ? ...travelling to New Guinea once a week to work with his charity for little kiddies ? and only training twice a week ?
By the way - he never DID go to New Guinea or set up his charity...and I think he's doing a little more than 2 nights a week on the track with the Bombers! As a player he's great - as a clubman he's sus and a person he's a liar and a cheat - but who cares? Not me! We got the very best from him.
I'm pleased that he is playing well as he was instrumental in the demolishment of the Bombers in the 2001 GF and equally as devastating in the next 3 GF's - he should have won the Norm Smith in 2004 - not that fat little untagged thug |

And how good was Mal Michael!!?? Brisbane, will rue the day they let that one go by not fitting in with his other responsibilities!
Gr8 Job Essendon, they worked hard for each other. Harris & Co. were smashing them at the stoppages. The Umpires tried to work a "Brad Johnson" day on them but, they kept their heads, stayed in touch and when Lucas went, they suddenly realised they all had to lift and did! It helped that Laidley benched Harris for leather poisoning, Petrie and Hame Mc. suffered with Aaron from too much off season and, like Freo, found a way to lose the footy while the Bombers found their feet.
Was disappointed that the Bombers backed off the gas a bit, but, they were possibly a bit tired.
Incidently, when it was there to be taken, Leroy Jetta provided a huge spark! |
