Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
gone back to listening to the radio with tv sound off-as biased as our radio callers are still so much better than listening to the garbage on tv-with the exception of cometti of course-although chris mcdermott should join up with the tv commentary cause he can then display his petulance for the whole of australia-you got dumped from the crows chris, for goodness sakes get over it and move on-your obvious dislike in seeing the crows do well comes across so blatantly on radio its actually making you look the absolute tool-had a lot of time for him as a player, now just a has been with a massive ego that cant get over being dumped-move on son, your time has passed.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
i just hope these young blokes are left alone to concentrate on footy-the ridiculous hype around tippett is incredible-the foxtel commentators are absolute tools-the bloke has played 2 games for goodness sake, hardly enough for legendary status just yet-and i hope dangerfield has the goods, for his sake and the crows sake.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
even though he made some errors ,i think it wasn't a bad first game ,i think he will be pretty good, and as pies commented Dangerfield seems to be impressing the right people at west lakes. interesting to see that Ming the merciless has declared Dangerfield a chance to play for the crows this season.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
i think all draftees are speculative, even top 5 picks aren't a certainty, look at Ellis at Hawthorn taken 2nd of Dale Thomas but seems along way behind him now. The crows have taken a huge punt with Dangerfield but from all reports he could be something special - well worth the risk imo

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
id like to think the club has drafted players who are fast and talented,(lets hope) , as for draftees being "speculative" , surely all young untried draftees are speculative .

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
of course. champions are always hard to replace. that's why the young guys are being thrown into the midfield now and being left there no matter what , even if it means loosing some winnable games. this way by the time the old guys retire their replacements will already be experienced midfielders, also the coaches will know by then who can and who cant. same with the rucks ,(although i guess they have no choice but to play them). most of the forwards are youngish anyway so that should go OK , and most of the experienced players will go to defence . Craig is trying to rebuild without knocking the house down , a refurbish perhaps.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
the problem is not this year so much as in the next 2-3 years when Goodwin, Mcleod, edwards, Basset, Burton will be set to retire, these guys will be harder to replace.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
I think the only core player lost was Welsh, but I think he'll be covered. Hudson was a goer but not the best ruckman and don't expect Biglands to be his best. But don't be surprised at how well the Crows do in the Ruck. Also Mark wasn't his best for a while too many injuries set him back time after time. Crows will be alright with Dangerfield they see him as a future captain, and Ebert would not have filled that role.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
The only "core" players lost are Riccuito and Hudson - Riccuito hasn't played much in the last couple of years anyway and Hudson can be somewhat balanced by the return of Biglands. As for little coming through...that remains to be seen. They may slip a bit, they may not...I'm just saying they won't be propping up the ladder.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
well this is the first time ive written them off... and for good reason you would think!

I think most clubs would go backwards should they lose a bulk of their core players and have little coming thorugh (i.e. rookies)

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
Hmm, that shows a level of ignorance about the squad. People outside SA write the Crows off year after year and are repeatedly proved wrong. I don't think they'll be worldbeaters next year but they'll be nowhere near bottom.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
The Crows last pick (aside from Walker), was Aaron Kite, tallish but very slight and seen as a utility rather than a key forward.

Re:Crows Draft Reply to this message
The Crows rated Dangerfield 3rd in the draft, unlike everyone else. They're either going to come out of this looking like geniuses or the recruiting monkey on their back will begin to assume gorilla-like proportions.
