Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
sorry boys..guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one... in my opinion...tippet has more POTENTIAL than gill..i dont doubt his endevour or commitment i just think tippet is a better player!! Maybe they might find room for both of them this week especially with the porper out for next 3 or 4 weeks...maybe a tall forward line may help our forward trouble....anyhow,either way..hope the lad does prove me wrong !!

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
i agree
Gill has tons of potential-gives 300%--great tackler-great 2nd and 3rd efforts and i know Tippett has promise but if it came down to choosing one i would take Gill

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
smokin... i cant believe you havn`t seen that potential in Gill , he always gives 100% effort and runs himself ragged , he hits the packs hard and has a very good second effort at ground level (just as well because he drops a few). Moran`s effort this week made Tippett look silly don't you think ? i think Craig`s plan of rotating the young big guys is a master stroke , while Moran and Maric wear themselves out with some big efforts Tippett and Griffin can refresh themselves ready to take over if necessary . just heard about Porplyzia out for 3 weeks ,what a shame for him and for the team , just as it looked liked the forward line was getting some potency and unpredictability about it this happens , and bloody typical of the AFL to let the b a s t a r d s responsible walk away scott free . Massie showed us some more of his guts and courage again , got smashed there at one stage , got up , shook out the cobwebs and off he went again to the next contest.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
He may need a rest oddie but we need tall ,go to forwards..and at the moment i see kurt as one of the best option's in that role!! He may not take the mark all the time but he will always give you a good contest and if he isnt going to mark atleast he try's to bring the ball to ground to give our smaller forwards a go!! I just havent seen the same potential in Nick Gill yet!! we need to be playing our best side as we need to win 3 of the next 5 games to make sure we will make the 8.
As for Massie..i think he was a good inclusion but i just think it should have been at the expensive of someone else besides Kurt!!

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
take it easy smokin , your gonna burst a blood vessel if ya not careful. Kurt's main job has been to contest the long kick into the forward line , hes been a bit off the pace lately and probably needs a rest . nick gill has been brought in for that role he is fresh and after a slow start for a couple of weeks was very competitive and lively last week which gives an opportunity to rest tippet . Massie`s inclusion is a good one , gives crows more flexibility down back , i think he usually plays well against his old club and along with bassett i doubt we have a more courageous player . I really think Kurt's overdue for a rest and the crows will be better without him for now , oh and f u c k me , the wife agrees , i`ll be buggered.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
Really freedirt!!! Well there just more intelligent thinking from "mr no plan B"!!! so i guess he'll be playing reserves for another club then...isnt that how it works?? so he could effectively be injured ,playing for a reserves side for another club. That seems sensible....NOT...Or is that just me!!

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
I was thinking maybe moran should do the second ruck duties but keep tippett in the forward lines..i just think it would be good for the kid to keep playing at this level(its not like the crows have alot to choose from up forward)..For his confidence ,if nothing else!! Lets hope i doesnt have reverse effect on him.. i hate to see him lose his confidence when it really seem like the selectors have decided to drop a player out the hat to make a example off!! He has not been our worse player in the last 6 weeks ,by a long shot..Well that my opinion..But yes, it will be like a day off for him in the SANFL.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
Unfortunately he plays for West who have a bye, so he won't have the chance to regain any form this week.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
Probably needs a break from the hurley burly of AFL too smokin. Poor Jonny Griffin is just about buggered after his first full year. SANFL is a big step down in terms of speed and physical play and a good place to play out a couple of games. Not quite a rest but good not to be going helter skelter. Dont want to burn out the young fellas playing their first year and have them injury prone for the rest of their careers.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
mmmmmmmmmm Massie for Tippett?? Although the lad hasnt set the world on fire since his rising star award..i didnt think he had been that bad...Every time he goes for a contest ,atleast you knew he would give a 110%!! And if he was getting beaten to a mark, atleast he would give a good contest and try to bringing the ball to ground.. I thought that he was improving in his rucking duties, although i think if they left him in the forward lines he would be better for it.Rather than using him in the ruck because our stocks are low in the department at the moment! Why give him every game this year then drop him ... We need tall forwards and we need players that give there all...I think he comes under both category's. Hopefully the run in the SANFL will do him some good and he only gone for a week.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
tippetts challenge will come later in the year or next year - he is flying under the radar atm but will start to get more attention, it's a bit like westhoff last year, he isn't having the same impact this season.

I'm not trying to knock tippett i also like him, but 10 games in is not the time to herald his arrival.

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
NAB rising star for round 8...well done!!! this lad is improving every time i see him..watching him live. ive been impressed with , not only his work when the ball is in the area ,but also his willingness to work up the field . and also to be thrown in the deep end and have to play ruck . i dont think he battered a eye lid..he was just straight in to it.. very impressive..for a player playing less than 10 games and what ive seen of him...this kid has a real future, lets hope its with the crows!

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
lets hope he is a good player... we need a good big guy especially one that has such a good mark in front of goal... might take a bit of pressure of Mcgregor having to be the tall target constantly!! so if the crows are clever...they will keep this guy contacted for a long time .so if GC team wants him...then there going to have to give up alot to get him!! I think he may be worth it if he can stay injury free!!

Re:Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
This is his bio from the crows site

Drafted at the end of 2006 from Queensland, Tippett had his development slowed by injuries in his first season at the Crows. He began the year in a neck brace and then after playing some SANFL games for West Adelaide was ruled out for most of the season after needing a shoulder reconstruction. A strong pre-season was rewarded in 2008 when he played in the NAB Cup competition.

The former Queensland under-18 basketballer was a late starter but impressed in Southportâs 2006 senior premiership side. He is strong overhead, dangerous around goals and agile at ground level for a big man.

Tippett represented Queensland at the 2006 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. But before that Tippett represented Queensland at basketball each year from U12s to U18s and was MVP in the U18 national championships grand final when his side finished second. He had toured the US with the Queensland Academy of Sport, and was a member of the Brisbane Bullets talent identification squad.

Tippett did not play any football through primary school but a chance game of football in the AFLQ Independent Schools competition changed his focus. âI got roped into playing with a bunch of my school friends and I just had a ball,â he said. âI kept enjoying my time with my football and I just had to make the hard decision ⦠and I just loved my football.â

A former junior basketball star, Tippett has only played football for two years, giving his home club Southport credit for his rapid development.

Kurt Tippett Reply to this message
Although i hadnt really heard of Kurt till this year. I have been very impressed with the way this young guy has been going about his business this year..As he was a late starter to aussie rules.he seems to have something about him. He is a very good overhead mark.. he has some speed for a big man and he dont mind getting down and dirty in the packs..and ive seen him live aswell as on tv and he has a good work rate when the ball isnt in his area..he seems to be a good find for the crows...lets hope is injury isnt to bad.
