| NAFTA has proven not to be a success, but the reason for the mass illegal immigration is due to the greedy American businessman who wishes to line his own pockets by bypassing the law. The illegal aliens who answer the call are in turn taking advantage of the kindness of Americans only to demand more and more. |

Seven, why don't you go read your own history books and "learn about how your ancestors hunted the Aborigines for sport. How about studying up on how YOUR people tied them up and dragged them behind horses and slashed their throats and shot them dead as they were defenseless and helpless.
Then come back to me and talk of "haunting". I bet you don't sleep well at night, do you?"
I sleep fine thanks ...no Aboriginals (or Mexicans) were harmed by my ancestors. |

Jay, you are obviously shallow, since you have fallen into the last resort of those who have no argument by claiming that I must be "racist" if I oppose illegal immigration.
Where did you read that I do not consider illegal immigration an "issue not of society, but of race"? No where! That speaks volumes for YOUR lack of intelligent reasoning. |

Just as no harm has been done to ANY person by me or anyone I know.
Why are you attacking me because I am for the rule of law in our country? |

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
If you knew anything of history then you would know King was tight with Chavez. Chavez was anti-illegal immigration. So much so that he would call La Migra whenever he encountered illegals and would see to it that they were deported.

Every society, world-wide, blames all its ill on the group who settled there last
In Australia the custom dates back to the Chinese stealing all our gold in the Gold Rush
The Italians and Greeks for stealing our jobs in the '50's and '60's
The Vietnamese in the '70's, for........can't recall that reason
(It must have been valid though, as Pauline Hanson ressurected it a decade or two later)
Luckily, a few Muslim refugees turned up from the war-torn Middle-East and took the blame from all those others who wanted to destroy our culture

Without NAFTA, those Mexicans would still have their farms to work on.
It is the fault of the American Government, the Mexican Government, and the corporations to whom they adhere to. |

Because of course anyone not having knowledge of the minutiae of 60s American politics knows nothing of history ?
Seems like a fairly arrogant and self-preoccupied statement to me. |

While there has been some media coverage of NAFTA's ruinous impact on US industrial communities, there has been even less media attention paid to its catastrophic effects in Mexico:
NAFTA, by permitting heavily-subsidized US corn and other agri-business products to compete with small Mexican farmers, has driven the Mexican farmer off the land due to low-priced imports of US corn and other agricultural products. Some 2 million Mexicans have been forced out of agriculture, and many of those that remain are living in desperate poverty. These people are among those that cross the border to feed their families. (Meanwhile, corn-based tortilla prices climbed by 50%. No wonder many so Mexican peasants have called NAFTA their 'death warrant.'
NAFTA's service-sector rules allowed big firms like Wal-Mart to enter the Mexican market and, selling low-priced goods made by ultra-cheap labor in China, to displace locally-based shoe, toy, and candy firms. An estimated 28,000 small and medium-sized Mexican businesses have been eliminated.
Wages along the Mexican border have actually been driven down by about 25% since NAFTA, reported a Carnegie Endowment study. An over-supply of workers, combined with the crushing of union organizing drives as government policy, has resulted in sweatshop pay running sweatshops along the border where wages typically run 60 cents to $1 an hour.

So rather than improving living standards, Mexican wages have actually fallen since NAFTA. The initial growth in the number of jobs has leveled off, with China's even more repressive labor system luring US firms to locate there instead.
But Mexicans must still contend with the results of the American-owned 'maquiladora' sweatshops: subsistence-level wages, pollution, congestion, horrible living conditions (cardboard shacks and open sewers), and a lack of resources (for streetlights and police) to deal with a wave of violence against vulnerable young women working in the factories. The survival (or less) level wages coupled with harsh working conditions have not been the great answer to Mexican poverty, while they have temporarily been the answer to Corporate America's demand for low wages.
With US firms unwilling to pay even minimal taxes, NAFTA has hardly produced the promised uplift in the lives of Mexicans.

Well, just look at some of the comments posted here by some of your "liberal" countrymen in response to my call for help on passing a law to curb the rampant murders of innocents by illegal alien g@ngmembers. >>
--------------
Which ones are you referring to?
Borg was one early poster that you had words with and he would hardly he called liberal in any sense of the word.
<< I certainly wouldn't call their comments tolerant towards my cause.>>
Ok . Fair enough .
But being tolerant of intolerance is something that liberals do not (and should not) be a party to.
<< Liberals are tolerant as long as you agree with their opinions.>>
Liberals are tolerant of all things that are not destructive or harmful. Racism certainly doesnt fall under that banner. |

I dont know you betsy so maybe your attitudes are different but a hell of a lot of the anti-illegal immigration people and org *** ations that I see and read about from the US ARE racially motivated.
And lorips assertion on the first page that they are "riff raff" and "appalling people " and "stupid" certainly seems to fall under the banner of racism. |

Which anti-illegal immigration groups in the U.S. do you think are "racist"? And why? |
