His Holiness Prays for Victims in China Quake
Phayul[Tuesday, May 13, 2008 14:17]
By Tenzin Chodon

Dharamsala, May 13 - His Holiness the Dalai Lama offered condolences to the victims of the earthquake that struck Southwest China’s Sichuan province on Monday.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of many lives and many more who have been injured in the catastrophic earthquake that struck Sichuan province of China." The Dalai Lama stated in his message Tuesday.

"I would like to extend my deep sympathy and heartfelt condolences to those families who have been directly affected by the strong earthquake on 12 May 2008. I offer my prayers for those who have lost their lives and those injured in the quake," His Holiness added.

Spokesperson for the exiled Tibetan Government Mr. Thupten Samphel said that they were bereaved by this tragedy and admired the quick response of the Chinese authorities in deploying rescue teams at such short notice to bring out survivors from the rubble.

Re:Earthquake in China... Reply to this message
We are shocked to learn through the world media that a devastating earthquake erupted in southwestern parts of China on 12 May, killing thousands of people and destroying millions worth of property. In this hour of Chinese national tragedy, our heart goes to brothers and sisters of the people of China and pray for an early recovery from the shock and difficulties that they have gone through.

My colleagues in the Kashag, Central Tibetan Administration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, join me to express our sense of great sorrow for the loss of lives and properties. We pray that may Three Jewels give courage and strength to the people of the affected areas to face this daunting natural calamity with ease. A special Buddhist prayer ceremony will be conducted at the main Buddhist temple in Dharamshala for those who faced an unexpected death in this earthquake.

Chimpsonboat
Tibetans all around the world are saying prayers at the moment, for the people who have died or are trapped from this terrible earthquake.
linking this quake and its tragic consequences to the human rights or tibet/burma cause would not be what any of these people would want. They are not vengeful.
If you knew any Tibetans or Burmese people you would know what we were talking about.

We hope more people are found alive soon as we have just read time is running out for them.

Will of the God is too profound to understand in most of the cases.
However, sometimes it is not.

- Epicenter is somehow on a historical demarcation line between China and Tibet.
(West half of Sichuan is Tibet, historically speaking)

- Just before the Torch enters into Sichuan, gateway for Tibet and East Turkistan.

- Right after the political show held on the top of Himaraya widely believed to be a divine mountain by local.

Re:Earthquake in China... Reply to this message
ok-explain Gods meaning in: New Orleans-the toradoes ripping through the mid west of the US-California fires-earthquake in Burma-massive one in Iran-also on Java-earthquake and tsunami off indonesia affecting all surrounding areas-floods on East coast of australia-floods in Britain-ice storms thru the north of the US......everyone add one they want chimpy to explain by Gods reasoning!

This is so sad -especially for those parents of the school-if it was a one child policy area-there are nearly 2000 parents with no child today!

At least the chinese authorites are doing all they can-even parachuting troops into remote inacessable areas to help.
Unlike Burma!

They have also shortened the route of the torch relay-because of this catastrophe.

Re:Earthquake in China... Reply to this message
chumps on the boat. What a pathetic hate filled indvidual you must be. You ranted and accused all chinese for the actions of the Chinese government. When your hate filled ravings were ignored whilst claiming to be an athiest then claim that God ( a being that you have already stated not to believe exists)has smitten China because of "his wrath".
Just how twisted are you. Get a life thousands of innocent people are hurt dead or homeless You may hate but thank God milions of others have common humanity and feel for those that are effected by the events in China and Burma.

Definitely the Wrath of God when I banged my arm on the side of a table last night. And when our pet rabbit chewed through my speaker wires. And that dog, yapping next door? God. And mighty p i s s e d-off.

Oh Lord, why dost Thou smite me so?

"Oh Lord, why dost Thou smite me so?"

Thou hast imprisoned our prophet Fluffy...who is most beloved of us !
repent....release our righteous rabbit lest we afflict thee with a plague of telemarketers and funeral insurance advertisements !

for those of you who have been chanting the words 'wrath of god' or secretly gleeing about he sufferings of those caught in the disaster, don't forget a great many of them are ethnic chinese, probably one third tibetans. this just once again shows your total lack of compassion, sensitivity and humanity. shame on you. you will have your day, believe me.

good comment...apart from the sinister final sentence "you will have your day, believe me." which undermines it entirely.

Re:Earthquake in China... Reply to this message
Innocent people die in natural disasters, not by faults of governments, not the wrath of God. Throwing personal opinions on very sad natural occurances, that can happen to all of us is short sited. Compassion for people irregardless where they live seems to be most proper
