So what part of China do you or your family come from? Why do you feel you must declare you are an 'Australian citizen' when in fact you obviously are against the idea of having a Free Tibet? Mmm?
I have worked in China and taught Tibetan and Chinese students and I can tell you who fears whom. The Chinese are certainly not afraid of Tibetans... why would they be? But Tibetans ARE afraid of the Chinese. And as for the culture lie -- my Tibetan students were not allowed to speak Tibetan, their own language.
And as for the money? As far as I know, it's for Tibetan refugees/their people who need education, normal living, safety and all the rest you may take for granted - if you do in fact, live in Oz.
Yeah mate, I trust Dalai Lama first, unlike you.
Although, I'm glad you are now in a country where you have free speech! And now you'd better go and read some western books on history - where China invaded Tibet in 1958/9 Enjoy reality! |

Yes, the British was an empire, and now in this modern world Australia is a democracy. I got it. And I disagree with all things violent too.
"aboriginal children were forcely separated from their mothers." you say...
I don't disagree with that fact. But another fact is that in Australia (all races) children continue to be separated from families. Why? They say it's for their own good. Physical violence/abuse performed on children by a stranger or a relative is unacceptable in my books and safety of mind and body is the immediate issue to be vigilant of.
"Sham on you!!!"
Really, why? I was talking about the state between China and Tibet. I have not and never will be ashamed of my personal life. And as for being a pollie, I'n not and never will be. So go hard mate -- but build a bridge and get over it. |

Hi, I understand and agree with your sentiments:
"(a) The language used in classes has to be uniform, or otherwise it is impossible for the teaching & learning."
Of course you are correct - how else could they learn well, like it or not, to be able to reach a person's potential in their environment. No arguments with all you have said.
"(b) It is good for Tibetans to learn the main Chinese language to improve their competitive capacity in the modern society. If they cannot speak the main Chinese language, it is hard to get a good job after they complete the school studies. This is just like in Aust, people who cannot speak English also can hardly get a good job."
Again, I totally agree with you and couldn't have put it any better. I could only add is that the more languages you can learn the better these days. It gives one an advantage in this more commercial world.
However, I can say what I experienced. I taught in mainland China in a Tibetan College - part of a large Chinese Uni where Chinese and Tibetans were in separate classrooms. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Chinese students as well as Tibetans... still in touch with them.
But the fact is when I asked Tibetans students to say things in their own language, they told me that it was not allowed to speak Tibetan. I was so surprised but didn't want to argue on the finer points of it all.
Maybe I didn't yet have their trust, or just repeating their school rules. but after awhile I became used to notes slipped to me about the I was teaching English and then unable to speak Chinese and Tibetan.
When I was there, the Tibetan students were afraid to talk in Tibetan. Look, |

Monastic (Religious) Activities
The monastery has an established program of religious activities throughout the year. There are special rituals on all the holy days of the Buddha, the Sakyapa Teachers, and also on occasions when the local people request specific prayers and rituals for their benefit. On such days most of the usual routine is suspended as all of the monks take part in the prayer ceremonies.
The usual daily routine of the monks is:
1. 5.45 Wake-up Bell
2. 6.00 to 7.00 Morning Prayer (Tara Puja in the Prayer Hall with breakfast)
3. 7.30 to 9.00 Recitation and memorizing of the prayer/ritual texts
4. 9.00 to 10.00 Tibetan Language Class
5. 10.00 to 11.00 English Language Class
6. 11.30 to 13.00 Lunch Break
7. 13.00 to 14.00 Tibetan Language Class
8. 14.00 to 15.00 Revision of the day's lesson
9. 15.00 Tea Break
10. 15.00 to 17.00 Revision of recitation and memorization of the prayer/ritual texts
11. Break
12. 19.00 to 21.00 Evening Prayer and Recitations
13. 21.00 to 21.30 Self study
14. 21.30 Bed and light off
On certain occassions the monks attend special events at other Dharma centres to receive teachings from HH Sakya Trizin and other great teachers. |
