American Tourists Reply to this message
While sitting in the Old Town of Stockholm with my well dressed Swedish and Australian friends we noticed a family of Americans walk by.
The younger children, the teenage children and the parents were all wearing MATHICHNG TYEDYE T SHIRTS.
Just one week before I observed an other American couple wearing matching winter jackets.
Yes, it is Sweden but it is the middle of summer!

....and those are the rich Americans. You should see how poor Americans dress. Of course that doesn't include the poor that shoplift for all their clothes.

Re:American Tourists Reply to this message
They do crack me up. I went hiking with a group in Thailand once and we got caught in a thunderstorm. In spite of the fact that it was still about 30 degrees and steamy as, they started going on about catching hypothermia.

HA! My favourite is when they start yelling at you if you speako the englisho. LOL! And THEN rant and rave about something thinking that the 'natives' don't understand them.

Flash. Have you ever met the ugly aussie overseas. Beats the Yanks hands down for rudeness, stupidity, cultural ignorance and drunkeness.

Re:American Tourists Reply to this message
Honestly no. Aussies don't really travel in packs. We more of a loner kind. And if we do decide to travel in packs, we certainly will not wear uniforms. Mind you, the drunk part could be true...

Re:American Tourists Reply to this message
It's hard to pick what is worse. The ignorant American who wonders why there isn't a Maccas on every corner, or the drunken Aussie backpacker, who also criticises local customs.

Re:American Tourists Reply to this message
My favourite was an Americans comment at Buckimham Palace, overheard by my brother-in-law

(say aloud, with an American accent)

"What a lovely building.............
Such a shame they built it under a flight path"

Mates.
When you work in an International Airport,as I do,you see all sorts,from all over,every single day.Some dressed sloppily,some smart,lots of Aussies,Yanks,,Poms,Nippo ns,Chinese,east europeons,etc.etc.
Up until now,ALL have been polite, good fun,and not minded being profiled. You can never say that a "race" can be tarred with he same brush. We are ALL unique and individuals.;)

I met one a few weeks ago here in northern j pan and he was riding around the country on a pushbike,,i saw him at the same seaside village in the same spot roughly for a few days ..as i dont see any other westerners i stopped and said hello and asked him if he had visited the lovely temple at kisakata just about 200 metres away as its breathtakingly beautiful,,he said he hadnt and would make a point of doing so as i had explained how old it was and the history behind it etc,,anyway i called into a shop just down the road and next thing the bloke went riding past me in the opposite direction to the temple with all his gear packed up on his bike,,i mean whats the use in travelling around and like he said he rides a pushy to get to see everything when he didnt even have the time to see one of the best temples in the country?..he was pretty rude as well the way he spoke,,i thought he would of liked to have someone speak english and tell him the sights of the area ,,but he was a bit rude the way he spoke,,very impolite,,

Re:American Tourists Reply to this message
I haven't had any bad experiences with American Tourists, but hey in France we sure as hell got better service when we were wearing a shirt that referred to Australia somehow, my hubby's Coopers, and Port Douglas T shirts sure got a workout.
Can't count the amount of times a French person said to us, thank god you are not English or American, you Aussies are welcome anytime. The Greeks voiced much the same opinion.
