Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
I've flown them 3 times and have always found them to be great.

I'm sure they're as safe as any other company flying at the moment.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
I've heard that they ask you to bring your own cut lunch on board, but I'd be more nervous if they asked me to bring my own toolkit.

You should feel right at home with the crew. Everyone on board has no qualifications :))

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
thats funny, Gidget LOL

Now....

I want to ask some of you a couple of questions about passenger airlines in general.

1. Are there parachoots under every seat of every passenger airline?

2. Why do these airlines visually show emergency doors when they are never put to use?

3. So why do they supply parachoots and never use them nor open the emergency doors when, clearly in most other arline crashes, had time to get out?

{1. Are there parachoots under every seat of every passenger airline?}

who cares ? i mean u wouldnt have time to put it on anyway if anything gos wrong up odds are u are history and if u did put a parachute on u would probly land in the ocean for the sharks to feed on anyway..and id rather they ate me dead than alive..

{2. Why do these airlines visually show emergency doors when they are never put to use?}

im not concerned where the doors are i mean id just follow everyone else in the case of an emergency wouldnt u ?

{3. So why do they supply parachoots and never use them nor open the emergency doors when, clearly in most other arline crashes, had time to get out?}

irrelevant

if 300 people had time to safley parachute from a plain I'm sure the plain would have a chance to safley land.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
If they parachuted 300 fare-paying passengers out of a commercial jetplane, there'd be about 275 dead bodies spread over quite a wide area, too. Plus around 75 critically injured, I imagine.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Jetstar is just a cheap version of the Qantas airline. Yes you have to take your own food onboard, but who cares, at least you have something you like. The airline is fine. Have a great flight wherever you are going !!!

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
1. Jetstar is fully owned by Qantas. It's as safe as Qantas is. Qantas' reputation as the world's safest airline would be threatened if Jetstar was unsafe.

2. You couldn't have flown Jetstar in Sweden. It flies only in Australia, and has just launched across the Tasman to NZ.

3. There are no parachutes stored under seats! They are life jackets, in case the plane lands on water. They are fairly pointless, of course, because the plane doesn't have a good chance of surviving a crash landing on the sea. An Ethiopian Airlines 767 broke up as it attempted to land on the sea off Mauritius some years back, and many passengers were killed.

4. And if you want to know how to evacuate a large plane (3 times the size of anything Jetstar flies) in under a minute, successfully, look at the Air France crash at Toronto a month ago. Everybody on board survived.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Jetstar bought all new planes - you'll be fine! I think bad stories stem from the idea that they are budget and therefore you don't get the service/trimmings. Have a great trip!

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
I have flown Ansett(deceased), Virgin and Jetstar. Of those three airliners, Jetstar was the best by far.

Virgin: felt like I was sitting alongside a catwalk for unemployed cat walk models. Got smiles but attention was artificial. Felt like plane was always in take off angle while flying.

Jetstar: seats were comfy, staff were genuine and friendly, plane felt like it was flying almost flat even though it kept to its degrees required so not to fly into a mountain or the ground.

When I fly next, I will always choose Jetstar first as much as possible.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
I have flown with Virgin many times but Jetstar only once, and never ever again!! I found Jetstar's lack of service to be completely unacceptable, and their treatment of luggage deplorable. The seats are tiny with no leg room, and if the idiot in front of you decides to put their seat back then make sure you breathe in and don't move a muscle or you will be crushed.

The flight departed more than two hours late, with absolutely no notification that there was to be a delay. We were left sitting in the departing lounge with Jetstar staff who could easily have advised of a delay, but they just carried on doing their own thing and looked daggers at anyone who dared to inquire as to what was happening. And of course as soon as I chose to make a quick trip to the loo, they finally started to board and they did not announce that the flight was now boarding. I guess you're just supposed to be psychic and know these things.

Upon retrieving my luggage at my destination the entire suitcase had been crushed, damaging the contents.

I have never had any such hassles with Virgin and would fly with them even if they charged 500% more than Jetstar.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
I don't know what plane you were on because the Jetstar plane I flew on was comfortable with plenty of room. I am not some small person in stature and thought it would be too small.

I had room and would fly with them again.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Jetstar are a fantastic airline, I have had no problems with them, just as long as you follow the fare rules, you'll be fine.

Are they safe? YES They would not have been given a licence to fly if they weren't!

I have flown with them 4 Times now and I dare say they are the best domestic airline ever.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
LOOK all plans are safe but with unexpected you will fine that the interior is full of leather and that may be some risk for some not so kink with the fashion interior furniture.. i do believe the leather seats are cheap so
dont expect a high class economic.

I recommend you tell the ladies that you wish to visit the pilot imediately. they may say no due to think you might be a criminal but just say you want to visit the pilots to see how they fly the plane at the same time well i allways do that and some will let me but its best to tell one who is clueless and not clue to what on earth you want to visit them first. Make sure you shake the hands to the pilots when in mid air. Know that is the first ginners world record to shake someonce hand in mid air at 58thousand feet.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Ignore the rather weird message from terminal688. Not only is it illegal to see the pilots in mid-flight, it physically can't be done because the door is locked, and in any event could lead to you being put under arrest. After 9/11, that kind of thing is an invitation for trouble.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
is it illegal to tell the staff tenants when in mid air that you want to visit the pilots please? what answer would you get from them... perhaps please wait and i will have a word with the pilot.. but i know you wont i have and it was interesting but since then 2001 bang no more visits but why close it it dosnt mean everyone who wish to visit the pilots aregoing to be some what terrorist ? well maybe but the world is just scared but though i could be scared too if there was a terror on the plane doing strange unusual things on top of the chair. acting like a pirrat gala but though thats life when it comes to domestic and international planes. make sure that departure in terminal 1 for that one.

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Of course there are not parachutes under the seats, there is however lifejackets stored under the seats in the unlikely event of landing on water. Don’t you just love the illustration on the safety procedure pamphlet of all the slides turning into boats and floating away from the aircraft, now how often do they actually land a 747 on water to test it all out. “Please remain seated, the pilot has decided to practice his Mid Bass Straight landing procedure. That’s the kind of announcement that Virgin Blue would make during one of their flights to stir people up. They are funny, this is one of their announcements “This is a non smoking flight and a video camera has been installed in the toilet “ LOL

Re:JETSTAR - HELP Reply to this message
Flew Jetstar from Avalon to Perth not long ago, was a lot more comfortable than Virgin. But beware, their advertised price "does not include GST"!
