Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
I don't care what their rules are, when u arrive at the airport and the plane hasn't even boarded yet and your told "your too late" is just so cruel.
It's not like you've missed the bus into town and another will be along shortly, at no extra cost.
Never ever again!!

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
well every airline is that unless you are a politician the plane will not wait.. They have a specific amount of time to do security checks & luggage load on.. You knew what tiume the flight departed what tiem you had to be there and probably how long it takes to get to the air port. always leave an extra hour to get to the airport..

anyway jetstar customers are just as stupid as the company for using them.

Rules are Rules relevant and precise for all. How could these timetables work efficiently if not adhered too. Personally, always given myself ample time to check-in avoiding any denial of boarding.

https://www.jetstar.com/w ebcheckin/entry.html

Check-in deadline

* You will still need to check-in baggage (if you have any) no later than 30 minutes prior to your flight's scheduled departure

We realise on time performance is very important for our customers, so to help us get your flight away on time, any passengers who do not check-in their baggage at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time will not be able to board that flight.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
Luggage takes time to be checked in then loaded on the palne etc, boarding is the quick bit. If a flight misses its allocated departure slot on the runway the company cops a massive fine so they dont risk it. People think I am nuts always going to the airport early but so far it has paid off.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
I think thats the main point a.patrici... People expect to pay peanuts for something and get gold in return. They are a budget airline. Budget means Budget in ALL categories. Room, Service, how long check in takes, how often flights are on time, how often it takes to take off luggage.

Are you a paying customer? yes. but your paying for something budget. Like Red Dot.. you dont go into red dot expecting the same quality of packaging, service & quality as you would in target.

Look at it from their view, you still need to check-in, granted that takes not very long, but still is beyond the deadline. If, for example they had a handful of late passengers for same flight then they would be delayed, therefore cut off time must stand. Then, imagine this occurring with every flight everyday. Hence the Rules must be as strict as they are.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
We were 1 1/2 minutes late with no luggage.People were still checking luggage when we entered the airport for a domestic flight. We were not allowed on.I know rules are rules but commonsense prevails in successful businesses.Never again.
Motel owner told us of a family coming home from an extended holiday. They arrived at the airport and where in the line 1 hour before takeoff. They finally got to the front of the line with 25 minutes to takeoff, but were refused because of excess luggage.Husband suggested that his wife, who had to go to work the next day,and his two kids who had school the next day,go on the flight and he would book a flight the next day with the luggage,at extra expense of gourse. This was refused because they were on the same ticket,(dont know what would have happened if one of them had died before the flight). They all had to go the next day at a hugely inflated price with no reduction for the missed flight. This may be the rule but anyone would have to be a mug to put up with this standover tactics. These stories are not rare. The motel owner loves them because he gets so much extra bookings.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
bundyu: it was probably booked in frequent flyers & thats why they cannot be flexible about that but the system actually shuts down after check in time finishes. Otherwise you will have the drips & drabs at 1/12 minutes late going I want to check in so we let them check in and then 1 minute later another family 'oh but you let tyhem check in why not us its only 2 minutes' and then it goes to 5 10 20

even when there is strict rules in place, the customer is well aware of the rules and doing it for one person means upsetting 200 other people? No you wouldnt.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
No what you get is what you pay for. If you pay $40 (for example) for a flight then dont expect service expect a budget flight with all the trimming taken off, thats why it is $40.
If someone has excess luggage then they are a mug for not going earlier cause in my experience if you are early in a check in of flight they seem to be more accomodating.

They were there in the line an hour before takeoff.Any normal person would have allowed the wife and kids to take that flight which had been paid for, then the husband would only have to pay for himself and the luggage.Complete standover no sense tactics. If they need longer to process passengers then they should inform them.
I would not expect the flight to be held up or any one except the staff to be inconveienced on my behalf. They can have whatever rules they like but I will not be flying with them

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
If you are runnning late to check in (but STILL earlier than the 30 min checkin deadline) you should see customer service from the airllines u are travelling with. This works Jetstar and qantas I know for sure having used this method and Im not a politician!!Basically you tell them your flight number and they will take u straight to the front of check in.It doesn't serve u any good just to stand in a long line.I have never missed a flight using this method.I don't use it to push in but when you are on a connecting flight from Jetstar and have to do the collecting luggage thing its sometimes a necessity.THey aren't trying to get to to miss your plane on purpose, so speak up next time. That doesnt mean you should arrive with less than an hour before check in just in case tho.

Re:Jetstar SUCKS Reply to this message
In our case there was no line. The last people were leaving as we can in 1 1/2 minutes late. They would not even consider letting us through though we had no luggage. When we caught a flight 6 hours later.we sat in the lounge until 15 minutes before takeoff, which means we would have had 13 1/2 minutes to board the original flight. All we had to do was walk up one flight of stairs. We had paid for our tickets on the internet and had all documentation with us.Just pig headedness.

If they cause no inconvenience to any one else, why not?The six odd staff just sat there chatting with no one else at their counter. You can be happy with this sort of treatment but I certainly wont be travelling with jetstar again. And the family returning from their holiday mentioned in my first post were on time. Why couldnt the wife and kids go.Pure stupidity

well then your going to need to open your own airline service & your going to have every plane delayed because NO airline lets you check in once check in is closed. EVEN when you are a first class customer. hell singapore airlines does it!

A lot of rules make no commonsense and show a complete lack of service or interest in their customers and I know some airport employees will help if they can and some wont
