| I am going to Vietnam in about 7 weeks.Am planning on taking a prepaid currency card(either Travelex cash passbook or ANZ Travel Card) Any feedback on which is the best would be great. Also do I take US dollars in cash and AUD dollars on my card or vise-versa.I do have a credit card but want to cover all bases. |

| Myself and my wife honeymooned in Vietnam, take US dollars with you as they are readily accepted over there; actually they probably prefer them to their own currency. |

If you're planning on using your credit card in Vietnam, it might be a good idea to tell your bank that you'll be travelling there. I had my card rejected on the first transaction, and had to phone Westpac in Australia (twice) before it could be revalidated.
The bank told me that they were not "informed", and considered my attempt to buy train tickets in Saigon a "suspicious" transaction. |

Take Aussie dollars and change them for Dong when you get there. Like all other countries you can just use your ATM card to get cash out once your there, or use your card over the counter at most banks. The only country I wouldn't use the ATMs is Malaysia because of the high level of fraud, always get your money out at a bank counter in Malaysia.
I never use US dollars in any other country than the USA because it undermines the currency of the country you are visiting and all countries have ATM's or over the counter banking when you use VISA or Mastercard. |

| It is always a good idea to let your bank know your travel plans or they may cancel your card after the first use. |
