Re:CHRISTIAN SYMBOL SCHOOL BAN Reply to this message
So you don't believe that 'h0mosexuality' is an abomination in the bible??

Put it this way - I don't think that anything is not forgivable (bar blasphemy against the Holy Spirit) and I don't think God grades sins. Who am I to sit in judgement on someone else's sin? As perfect as I may seem to me I do have my occasional failings. Just don't tell anyone.

Personally I believe all politics should be abolished. >>>>

Lol, throw in the various religious dogmas with that and I think mankind would actually make some real progress.

It's not the ideologies it's the w@nkers that use them to satisfy their egos that are the problem.

"God really is that thin skinned?"

Well you see ... you need to understand what "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" really is to comprehend what the "offence" is. Given that you don't, you won't so you'll stick with whatever facile interpretation suits your paradigm I'm guessing ;->

Re:CHRISTIAN SYMBOL SCHOOL BAN Reply to this message
Well in the way it is a little bit of a Divine conundrum. Bear in mind this is my interpretation and others may disagree.

I think what is being gotten at is that "blasphemy against the holy spirit" consists primarily of the act or state of mind of denying the power and existence of the Holy Spirit (not in the evangelical sense) ergo denying the existence and power of God himself. Fundamentally if you don't believe in God then that is "unforgivable" which is kind of irrelevant to an unbeliever yes? But clearly an important line in the sand.

And it's not book learning it's just what I interpret the Bible to mean.

No religous group was more murderous than the vatican in their application of their laws. The fact that the crucifix has been declared as no longer proper to be display in schools must have the pope and his kiddie diddlers in a mind spin.

Even non-christians will be pleased to know that the so called 'Church of Rome' is commonly believed to be the false prophet of Revelation

Since He is right at the very top of the pecking order, I guess He can afford to be as thin skinned as He wishes :)

Very close to brilliant.

Which then calls into doubt the concept of free will doesnt it? Why be "given" free will if you are to be punished for using it? And how could free will possibly be free will if it was given - after all something given can presumably be taken away. How does a demand for conformity to a particular brand of theology constitute free will?

Seems to me that the theological definition of free will could be "You are free ..... to do what we tell you"

Wow .. OK. So, the concept of forgiveness is reconciliation with God. So the premise is that if you deny God's existence and therefore power then you cannot be reconciled to God can you? Logically. Of course it is your choice to believe what you want - that's freewill - but if you choose not to believe in God then don't expect "reconciliation". You're not punished for exercising it - you just don't get the benefits you would if you made a different choice.
