Postal worker hands back $100,000 cash
A good samaritan postal worker was shocked to discover a mystery package she handed to police in Melbourne's south-east was filled with $100,000 yesterday.
'Georgia' was working at the Australia Post business centre in Rosebank Avenue, Clayton South when she noticed the package, which looked similar to a VHS cassette, outside her building just before 5pm.
The woman correctly suspected the container, covered in stickers of $50 notes, belonged to a bank and took it to Springvale Police Station.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said Georgia was "very shocked" when it was opened in front of her to reveal $100,000 in $50 bills.
Police are investigating how the item, used to refill an ATM machine, was left behind by a security company.
The money has been returned to the bank. Police praised Georgia, who has not yet been offered a reward, for handing in the stash of cash.
"It's good to see that there are people out there prepared to do the right thing," a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

But I'd deduct $50,000 for account keeping and administration fees.
If the banks can do it to us, why can't we do it to them? |

Nahhhh, not a chance. The kiwi porkers are no better than our own QPS (queensland porker service). Funny story though (true in fact), a while back I got a bunch of probably demand letters in my mailbox (Brisbane) addressed to the asian-kiwis. Long story how that happened by it was basically Australia Post inanity) I did try contacting the senders in kiwiland but nobody seemed interested, finally convinced the lobotomized simians @ OZ Post to collect the stuff and do with it whatever they wished. |

Well, I would need to be in that situation to say for sure what I would do.
Though there would be many variables. Where it was found, the packaging, any indications that it belongs to a bank or the mob....
I can tell you now though it would be very, very tempting to keep it if I knew I could get away with it. |
