Trains and prams don't mix.. Reply to this message
Is it really that hard to put the brakes on and have at least one hand on the pram handle?

I have no idea how anyone thinks it is ok to put this footage on the ad break with no warning.
I had an unexpected shock to see this. One minute I'm watching a movie, next this footage.
I'm consider myself rather thick skinned with such things, but I was absolutely horified as I was caught off guard like this. How about those who can't bear it, and have no warning?

Especially at a train station, the mother is a complete fwit, and I would not often call someone such but what a careless fool.

is the child safe to go home with her??

ffs, brake at the front, brake at the back, keep your hands on the handle.

Bet she won't do it again in a hurry.
Notice the person standing a bit away from her was the first to react. A bit closer and she may have saved it from the fall.

yeah, cause all you wonderful parents have never done a thing wrong hey? never forgotten something, never ever looked back on anything and thought, shit, that could have gone badly?

FFS do some REFLECTION.

i can't believe how close the person grabbing for the baby came to being killed as well... so close to jumping or being dragged under. could have ended with her dead and the baby alive (not sure if this was the mother?)....

and how shockingly voyeuristic the world is now - i almost vomited when i saw the clip... but the news just kept on playing it...

Listen I have not even seen the clip so Im not going to pass judgement but I will say I am blown away so many times at the train station by the majority of parents that let their little kids run around, My 6 year old knows my rules are that you sit on the seat next to me at the station and you dont move.

It doesn't take much for a horrible accident to happen, but you need to be accountable and aware of your surroundings at all times...Some people are just careless and don't think.

The baby was so lucky...I don't like watching the clip either, but it's shown over and over so you can't miss it.

"i almost vomited when i saw the clip..."

Yep. Is a heart thumper. Has haunted me since seeing it.
Never before have I seen a more brutal shake up of reality, that will no doubt caution others. I'm thinking this is why they released the footage ???

Glad they both survived.

No-one is to 'blame' either, for those here taking that stance. Grow up and learn from it,
instead of sniping.

Sadly however there will be many parents at railway stations today allowing their tots to wander about without holding onto them, the graphic message will be lost on them.

Grow up & learn? - Learn what? - Do we learn how completely slack brained certain people can be & you`ll still forgive them? Anyone in charge of babies has to take SOME responsibility.

Thats cool Aussie..I didnt think it was..
I think with young children..a little common sense goes a very long way, and again I will say some people at railway stations are shocking with looking after their small children, and I am going to go even further here, I live in sydney and my area has a large chinese population and I can tell you that some of them are dreadfull at watching their kids..my observations.

Once you're in a public place, especially when waiting for transport and you have a kid in a stroller, your mind should be 100% on that kid. Once you're out of danger, you can enjoy the sunshine or whatever you do, but not at train station or bus stop.

It's easy to be distracted for a few seconds so I'm not going to pass judgement on some poor woman who nearly lost her child because she wasn't concentrating for a minute. It happens.

Fortunately the baby was okay - altho I'm betting the mother is beating herself up enough without needing help from random strangers who know nothing about her.

And yes, they said on tv last night that authorities released the video to shock others into being more aware and more careful around trains.

I also agree with comments about mothers letting toddlers run around on train station platforms - the number of times I've grabbed a kid who nearly went off the edge - and so often the mother just laughs about it but doesn't do anything to stop the toddler doing it again. *rolls eyes* That to me is far far worse than what happened with the mother in this video who really just had a momentary brain fart and then tried all she could to rescue her child.

Hopefully this woman will now be left alone to deal with her mistake and NOT seek publicity like the woman whose baby drowned whilst she was talking on her mobile phone-have seen her on the news and b i t c h - ing about her husband in mags-what a sad way to get over the accidental loss of a child NOT!!!

it was a terrible accident, unfortunately accidents happen. Fortunately the baby survived with a little bump.

Not so fortunate when the exact same thing happened in Adelaide with a tri wheeled pram and it ended up in the river when a new mum stopped to answer her phone. She had her back to the pram for a few seconds turned around and pram was gone. She ran along river bank looking for pram as she hadn't heard it slip soundlessly into river. Poor baby died that time. That was a tragic accident too.

Accidents happen it wasn't an ON PURPOSE

Re:Trains and prams don't mix.. Reply to this message
It may not have been "ON PURPOSE" however exactly how much intelligence is required to park a pram pointing toward the railway tracks, not apply the brake and turn your back ?
In N.S.W there are posters at rail stations warning passengers to park the pram parallel to the tracks apply the break and remain in attendance.
Railway platforms in N.S.W and (apparently) Victoria have a slight slope down to the tracks to run water off the platform.
I am glad the child survived what a miracle
