Your dad was a born loser. I, on the other hand, am quite the opposite. My wife loves it. I love it. We don't want for anything. We have a great life. All thanks to racing and punting!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++
oh i know he was. absolutely. i'm glad your wife loves it and you don't want for anything. you must be the 0.0001% of people that actually win from gambling.
i guess i just think it's irresponsible to encourage gambling in others, when it's such a huge problem in this country.
meh, then again, there are only some things that I get het up about on a public message board, i can let this one go :) |

frenchyjen... I don't gamble! I shrewdly get for the purpose of winning!
Look... let me put it this way. If Jamaican sprint star, Usain Bolt, is to run a race... and you know he is the best... you know he is in form... would you not risk money on him, knowing he is going to win the race? |

frenchyjen70...
In life, we take risks all the time... even crossing the road... catching a flight...
Businesses do it everyday... they take risks.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!
What I'm saying is I take the risk, but minimise that risk by really doing my homework in order to get it right (most of the time) - otherwise I'd have to bloody well work like everyone else! That would be awful!
Look... I simply want to help people make a little money because I hear how tough some people are doing it out there... can't afford this.... can't afford that...
I say to people, get out of your comfort zone... have a punt on my expert advice... it's safer than crossing the road! |

| Or better yet, put your money to work, yeah thats right INVEST it, make it work for you. Heres an even better idea. Instead of throwing it away on the nags, go buy yourself a book. "The Richest Man in Babylon". Its a simple book, easy to read, only a hundred or so pages. Its a start, make your money work for you.......or p!ss it up against the wall gambling......... not a hard decision really........... |

Now why read a book when you can read the Form Guide?
I don't piss my money up against the wall gambling. I don't gamble.
Some people just don't get it. A few weeks ago I did a topic that there was such a thing as a sure bet... Takeover Target in the Goodwood in Adelaide. I urged everyone to back it. What happened? It won. Did I lose money? No... I made a small fortune on it.
I'll say it again for the sceptics...
A gambler will gamble on anything... a punter (like me) only bets to win!
That's my motto. Those who see my tips know I'm pretty good!
And why am I good? Because when everyone else has to go out working for a weekly wage, I instead am studying the form guide preparing myself to back two of three horses out of the 300 to 400 that will be running on the Saturday... to give me a tax free return that is equivalent to at least half the annual average wage people earn... all won in the space of two or three hours of a Saturday afternoon's racing!
The Tax Office knows it cannot tax windfalls like this because the moment it does, punters will start claiming deductions for all their losing bets! That would be a disaster for the ATO! |

The Group One Stradbroke (1400m) will be run on June 6... and provides a great chance to let you earn some tax free income.
I'll say this, just keep in mind two horses for the time being:
1. All Silent
2. Black Pirahna
These two nags are super super fit, and very nicely weighted in the race.
Please... jot them down in your little black book! |

Me get a job? A job? What... work? Are you kidding? I don't need to work. On average I make more money over two weekends punting than a worker makes in a year... but mine is tax free!
So please... don't insult me. Don't talk dirty to me! |

People... I'm here to help you beat the recession. I'm here to help you raise some tax free income without having to work. So please take note.
This Saturday in Brisbane, the QTC Cup (1300m) $150,000 - Group 2 (Race 7) will be run.
There is a slick filly called ORTENSIA that will contest this race. Nice barrier (7)... top jockey (Craig Williams)... perfect distance!
The only unknown factor for now is the weather and track conditions for Saturday.
Jot her down in your little black book.
And please note... she wins this, she automatically gets into the Strabroke Handicap to be run on June 6. |

| since the introduction of GST, there has been 2 prices from tradesmen, a price for going through the books and a receipt, or a price for cash-in-hand. I suspect that the GST has created a bigger black money market, which was exactly what it was designed to stop. |

ausgal... your wrong, I'm afraid!
The GST resulted in one million extra businesses being captured for which the ATO knew nothing about.
It captured an extra 1 million small businesses that it knew nothing about as a consequence of businesses having to register for an Australian Business Number.
On top of that, the law requires 48.5% of the invoice amount to be withheld by a person and lodged with the ATO if not supported by an ABN.
So that means only small fry would be involved with the "cash" issue you mention. But that in itself is dealt with by the GST because if you are small fry, you can opt out of GST if your income is not greater than $50,000.
So what you say only happens on a small scale, and besides, which reputable tradesman or other business is going too risk their livelihood when you consider the criminal punishment under the tax legislation? |

| New Horizens I've been thinking, which is generally an issue in itself, but I can't help but wonder if you are giving out hot tips to people and they follow your advice wouldn't it bring the returns down? The more that bet the lower the odds.... |

loopygiggles... you'd think so. But most people won't even dare place money on my tips. So those that do will hardly make an impact. I play $10,000 a go... at 2/1 I get back $30,000. So you can see where I'm coming from.
Punting is about statistics. It helps if you know vital information like the following:
1. 70% of favourites win.
2. 85% of favourites come 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
3. 85% of winners are priced under 6/1.
Can you see how the odds become stacked in your favour once you are equipped with information like that?
But wait, there's more... but I shan't give away that info here just yet. |

Bit of a generalisation Ausgirl, some may. But their numbers are dwindling. They all still pay GST on supplies though. The ATO has a great program for identifying input/output anomalies, so get ready for your audit. |

To anyone who thinks they can systematically commit tax fraud... my advice is tread carefully... very carefully, because without a doubt, sooner or later you will be caught... most often by someone else making an innocent comment in relation to their own tax affairs!
So just be honest. Or you could find yourself in jail for three years. But more importantly, you must dob in tax cheats. Why? Because for every dollar they cheat the Tax Office, that dollar is made up from you! |
