Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.
The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.
The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of hours of tape recordings that Mr. Salem secretly made of his talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as being in a far better position than previously known to foil the February 26th bombing of New York City's tallest towers.
The explosion left six people dead, more than a thousand people injured, and damages in excess of half-a-billion dollars. Four men are now on trial in Manhattan Federal Court [on charges of involvement] in that attack.
Mr. Salem, a 43-year-old former Egyptian Army officer, was used by the Government [of the United States] to penetrate a circle of Muslim extremists who are now charged in two bombing cases: the World Trade Center attack, and a foiled plot to destroy the United Nations, the Hudson River tunnels, and other New York City landmarks. He is the crucial witness in the second bombing case, but his work for the Government was erratic, and for months before the World Trade Center blast, he was feuding with the F.B.I. |

For one thing I thought you were talking about 9/11, but for another, you don't even read your own pasted screed: that says they had knowledge of a plot, and they were trying to infiltrate the conspirators... which is far cry from FBI bombed the friggin' World Towers. OK so you're saying the FBI actively bombed the WTC, where your article clearly states it was not the FBI but actually terrorists.
Your article actuyally exhonorates the FBI from actual involvement.
Being 'in a better position' does not actually say 'completely able' to foil the bombing.
Thake this statement at the end of your article:"He is the crucial witness in the second bombing case, but his work for the Government was erratic, and for months before the World Trade Center blast, he was feuding with the F.B.I."
Would you trust something THAT important to someone you don't wholly trust?
Maybe the decision not to substitute was amde on the basis of the unreliability of the informant?
Rather than doing what you accuse us of, that is the blind following of an idea, maybe you should try and think about the situation yourself.

Never before in history has a steel high rise building collapsed simply because of fire.
Yes, the offical non-conspiratorial www.dense.com and all the other intenutters version deduced, although a huge amount of irregularities existed that this was the first known example of this happening... and this had to do with a number of mitigating factors not present in the other cases. |

Oh, I just popped in.. are we still doing this conspiracy theory thing are we? sighs...
and just how was it again, that the alleged co-conspirators were able to secretly plant the alleged explosive devices that allegedly made the buildings collapse, without anyone noticing anything strange going on leading up to 9/11, nor were the remains of any such alleged devices found in the tons of debris which have by now been gone through with a fine tooth comb??

Yes, the Twin Towers fell from the top down, actually the floors above where the planes crashed in, fell on top of themselves and started a downward spiral. And EVERYONE that is smart enough knows that buildings are imploded from the bottom up! Sooo...I don't know how anyone could have guessed which top floors to rig with thousands of pounds of explosives without the security guards knowing it or people that worked in the buildings not knowing it...hummmmm. Know one has come forward with ANY information....hummmm...s eems retarded to think otherwise! |

A conspiracy theory exist because of the lack of thorough investigation.
No, this has been thorougly investigated, but many simply prefer to be tantalised by the possibility of a conspiracy.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the US government has shown itself to be nothing but inept. How is it supposed to have pulled off the greatest stunt in history with not one whistle blower or genuine smoking gun? Easy, because it never happened. |
