I never said it was.
But why do you feel the need look at other peoples kids in the nude is more the point.
I dont see the the need at all and i think those in the art world who do are are sick puppies. |

No 6 yo, nor 14 yo for that matter, knows what goes through some men's minds when they look at young girls. How will this girls father feel if she is, God forbid, obsessed over by some weirdo who should not be allowed to walk in the community. He has no idea of the possible ramifications of such unnecessary images. |

am a young mum of a 3yr old boy and 9week girl i dont see why it is so wrong for a responsable parent to take pictures of their child.i for instance have plenty of nude pictures of my children from birth to playing in the yard on a hot summer day under the sprinkler, and beautiful portraits from professional places that you get done at a shopping center, only that my childs private areas you dont relly see, i say if you dont like it look away your not being forced to look.
I agree the point is they are for you and not the world to see.
Thats what these arty fart di*kheads dont get. |

Nor do I 'see the need' to ban something because it may affect some people in a negative way
I don't want to see under-wear banned from clothes-lines and department store displays because a few people have under-wear fetishes

| I agree... When children reach maturity then they are able to make decisions for themselves... I agree with the Prime Minister too... I am a Portrait Painter and I have never considered painting a child nude nor would I. The idea of that offends me. When putting forward an arguement, name calling is below the belt. Naive people think it's arty to photograph /paint children nude. I'm not sure they have much understanding of the human emotional body. Denial to them is a river in Egypt. If they turned their hand to psychology they might get a rude shock. |

I have a daughter too and I agree children are beautiful in all their innocence and I have no issue with naked children in art so long as their genitalia are not exposed (to me that's porn). That so many including the Prime minister read sexuality into such innocent pictures disturbs me. The over-reaction is forcing people to look at these in a sexualised manor when they would have only seen the art. Children's pageants and bras for tweens are more disgraceful and exploitative of children than art done under the supervision of responsible adults.
The most pictures my parents took of me starkers I would have no issue with them being on public display.
Are images of naked children in tribal cultures and third world countries also to be classified as porn? |

I work in the "Art world" (less of a "world" than a profession really) and find the pictures unremarkable. Not good, not "evil" but merely unremarkable. Those I work with who actually deal with the visual and plastic arts feel the same. Nelson's pictures probably would have been largely ignored by most artists and critics if not for the media hype.
One of the people in the office that does deal specifically with grants to visual artists noted that there would be no need to provide anything by way of a grant to Henson (not that he needs it anyway, he is swimming in cash; even Malcolm Turnbull has a piece by Henson hanging in his house) or Olympia Nelson as: "the wowsers and tabloid journalists have made these people famous overnight".
I'm sure they thank you all for drawing attention to their work.
I think it is also ironic that those to shout the loudest about these pictures being on public display are the very ones who can't seem to look away ,and those who beleive that the daughters privacy has been invaded somehow can't stop talking about her in a public forum like Yahoo, or on the tele, or in the newspapers, or anywhere they can grab some attention.
LOL, and I thought artists were attention seekers. |

A naked child is not art!
The law does not allow me to photograph or video my own children playing sport - "just incase" the other kids in the photo or video are exploited - FULLY CLOTHED playing their team sport!!!!
How can that same law allow a NAKED child, in this single act of exploitation and robbed innocence that is sadly acceptable to so many of you, be called art? This is a vile thing.
A naked child is not art! This is a vile thing to God, and deeply sad that so many of you see nothing wrong.
As for me and my house 'we will serve the Lord'. |

I've had nude pictures of me as a kid published in a Newspaper, Mum thought it was an "adorable" 21st birthday gift as did most of her friends, I was very embarrassed but, funnily enough, not scarred for life.
I know that a lot of you would like me to feel somehow violated by my pornographer Mum. I am sorry to disappoint. |

Art, nude, porn, abuse, child, youth, and so on. There would be no debate if the world wasn't full of sick and hurting individuals. How about we focus on beauty for what it is? If the world really is full of men and women lusting inappropriately, why is that? Where there truly is love, there will never be abuse.

She puts her "soapbox" to use for a very worthy cause. I highly respect her. Though I disagree on this issue, I understand where she's coming from as she's worked with so many children who have been abused and also had a family member that's an abuser.
When working with abused children one does become very aware of how innocence gets prayed upon and the first instinct is to protect them all. Unfortunately caution can become hysteria and controll. |

That's very presumptuous of you to think you know my religious bent. Btw I don't follow a religion of the book and do not beleive in God as such. I was approaching my reply with biblical understanding, ie lust is a sin.

1. Will this sort of stuff create pedophiles? - Doubt it.
2. Will this sort of stuff ad to any significant degree the porn pedophiles go for - Don`t think so.
3. Could this sh1t endanger a child ? - Can`t see how.
Repulsive as this sort of material is, I think we have to be careful that we don`t react in a way that erodes more freedom from the lives of innocent people.>
