Our current prime minister has a pretty good relationship with the Indonesian president, so I daresay a prisoner transfer is in the wings. I have written to Mr Rudd to determine his status on this option.
Surprisingly, all correspondence has been personally answered by the relevant department, hence the need for public servants to work longer hours....... |

| Bring her back and try her in our incompetant courts here? you must be joking, she was charged and tried in a country that has a proper court system. Why should she be given the benefit of the so called justice system here, the system that we regularly complain about because of the geriatric and demented judges who hand down ridiculously and unbelievably light sentences, she had been charged, tried and found guilty as charged and sentenced to jail for the term that their judges deemed appropriate. Our politicians are always warning that if you commit a crime in another country you are subject to their laws and their court system, Corby took a chance and got caught, that is her problem she has to wear it. |

Shapelle is not guilty but i think she knew her sister was doing some hanky panky. Maybe she had been just too nice to carry it for her sister. I feel more and more strogly that Mercedes is the real b i t c h here.
I feel sad that our girl Schapelle is serving an unfair sentence thrust upon her and we fellow Australians have not been fair to her either.

| watching the tv has me still in doubt i don't think the girl would have been stupid to move 2 states by plane for bali to be caught. If for some reason she did it why not go direct to bali ????? A another anwser is why wern't the drugs tested to were they came from, or finger printed !yes bali is corupt the police are as well i know cause my tour guide has 2 wallets one for police and one for his use well there is another question.even if she did or didn't there is cause for reasonable doubt due to lack of proof gulity or not.ok if it was straped to her body or inside her GUILTY but well??????????????????? nobody will know except her time will tell ......... |

Having read the OP's original rant I doubt very much that he/she knows anything about the law.
Corby was apprehended in INDONESIA. The AFP has no jurisdiction there. The Australian courts have no jurisdiction there. the Australian Govt have no say in their politics or legislation. As a long(?) term law enforcemt officer (read security guard) you should know that.
They do not follow the westminster system of Justice.
She was caught in Indonesia breaking an Indonesian law that carries the death penalty. Lucky she only got 20 years,. |

Bottom line is that regardless of Indonesian law-their forensics suck. Had they processed the bag of marijuana for fingerprints they could have avoided all the hoopla. Poly bags like that show fingerprints very, very well. Had it NOT had her fingerprints on it, they could have ruled her out, and vice versa. Had there been just one print of hers on the bag, it would have shown culpability. Unfortunately, I think she said she grabbed the bag at the airport when they asked her to open the boogie board bag-oops!!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly, what complete idiot would place weed in a CLEAR bag? You would have to be a complete fool! Rule number one in smuggling is to conceal the drugs from SIGHT! Odor is the other factor, and they accomplished that by sealing the innermost bag to be airtight.
Thirdly, as was brought up on the show, why would anyone in their right mind go thru both Brisbane AND Sydney airports? It is obvious to me that the weed was NOT meant to travel on to Indo, but was supposed to be intercepted in Sydney, where it could be sold. Only other idea is it WAS a family member who had no choice.
Lastly, she wasn't a weed smoker-unusual for a mule not to use the substance being carried, as many times the mule will get free weed as part of the deal.
The fact that she got 20 years is crazy. The prosecutor's main witness was the idiot baggage handler, who said, "She acknowledged that the bag was hers". No kidding! It WAS her bag-just not her weed. The prosecutor claimed that the bag of weed was perfectly suited for the boogie board bag, and therefore it was thought-out beforehand that the boogie bag would be the bag of choice to carry the weed-what a load of *** ! Maybe the baggage handlers just found a bag that fit the weed!
Perhaps it was another family member. The brother in law who's Indonesian liked weed, and probably had the connections to off it in Indo. I cannot believe her sis would do that to her, way COLD! No forensics-no lie detector-no prints ... |

| Absolutely. She didn't get a fair trial and there was no absolute proof that this girl was responsible. She was on trial and she is innocent by virtue of lack of proof... Facts are facts and all you naysayers need to keep your mouths shut. I have no relationship to this family but it breaks my heart to see injustice, on any level. But 20 years! Get a grip people.
