it may be off topic slightly but it is only religion and the weather that make us cover our bodies.
Our distant ancestors saw nothing wrong with exposing our flesh and actually saw our bodies as a thing of beauty.
It is only church people that say we must cover up. |

Bottom line is this really....
Unless we are all ALLOWED to see it, how can we decide FOR OURSELVES whether it is ART or PORN?
By doing what they are doing the authorities are blatantly taking away our rights as citizens to make that decision.
Sounds like a police state.
But aren't we a democracy?
Or am I mistaken? |

thats prudish in the extreme. What about peoples baby photos? of swimming at the beach naked. I find it amusing that our society says that at 18 you can do pretty much ANYTHING but the day before that you can do NOTHING and anyone associated with you goes to jail. Seems odd to me. |

Well if it's democracy you you want it appears that the majority of people oppose the exhibit. So to insist on it being displayed would be un-democratic now wouldn't it? |

They haven't had enough life experience to make fully informed decisions. im certainly older than 18 and i can honestly say now i would certainly not make some of the choices now that i made back when i was 18 and naieve |

That is idiotic! whilst 18 is obviously young that doesnt mean people shoudl be denied choice. You woudl have a 22yo naked photo decried as CHILD pornography? |

Nothin is wrong with me. You are choosing to draw a line that is just where YOU want it to be - not where it is FAIR for it to be. what about kids modelling clothes esp underwear? is that pornographic? |

I very much doubt the majority of people are against it.
Majority of talkback radio listeners? Yes.
Majority of the Daily Telegraph readers? yes
And besides , democracy only works when people are making "informed" choices , not knee jerk ones. |

"I very much doubt the majority of people are against it."
Well at some point you'll have to decide whether your "doubt" is actually a valid source of data. Everywhere I've checked feedback polls suggest that the majority opposes the exhibit. We could run a referendum for you though? |

*Well if it's democracy you you want it appears that the majority of people oppose the exhibit. So to insist on it being displayed would be un-democratic now wouldn't it?*
I'm a little troubled by this emu, and can't quite articulate why. Which is a real pain in the ass.
I think a part of it is the implication that any breach of the law (as passed by parliament and therefore reflecting the will of the people &c) would have to be construed as an un-democratic act. Maybe there's no problem with that. It would, apart from anything else, provide some reason to punish so-called victimless crimes...
But I think it goes more to the fact that living in a democracy doesn't mean that majority opinion is the arbiter of everything, particularly when it comes to matters of taste.
Like I said, I can't articulate it properly at this point. |

obviously their has to be freedom of coice and when a person is old enough to make the right choices for themslves has to be left to them to certain degree and as our law dictates it is 18 but obviously the need to protect
our children should be paramount and we cannot dissmiss photos such as this as acceptable Art. come on, i certainly find it reprehensible as any loving caring parent would. |

It is a mutt-ugly link, and so long that it's almost impossible to tell where the spaces are.
Try this:
http://www.legislation.sa.gov.au/listBills.aspx?ke y=S
Scroll down to the Summary Offences (Indecent Filming) Amendment Bill 2008 link, then open the file in .pdf or .rtf. |

Im a loving parent and that doesnt mean i find every phot of a child that i might not like 'objectionable'. Be carefuil what you wish for. If some of the nutters had their way, you would not be allowed to have ANY photos of any children. |
