A popular "over-achieving" young Melbourne actress has been killed by a train while on her way to buy her older brother a birthday present.
17-year-old Jessica Jacobs tripped on the platform at Cheltenham railway station on Saturday, May 10, and fell onto the tracks, her brother Adam Jacobs 24 said.
She couldn't move from the tracks in time and was struck by a train.
Jessica was well known in the world of children's television, starring in Saddle Club, Worst Best Friends, Fergus McPhail and Holly's Heroes.
She also appeared in live productions, including the Sound of Music with Bert Newton and Lisa McCune.
They should sue the driver and/or station |

I see....the train driver's fault.
So if you're driving your car, and someone jumps off the kerb in front of you, and you hit them, it's your fault? |

This is one of those accidents where no one is at fault!
Its not the train drivers fault, they cant stop in time if something's on the tracks, and its not the girls fault as she tripped and couldnt get up in time.
Sadly, she died because of it, but no one is to blame here. |

| it sounds like a terrible accident, there would have been nothing the train driver could have done to avoid hitting her. even if he hit the breaks as soon as he saw her trip, it wouldn't have stopped in time. it wouldn't be fair to the train driver to try & sue him, he has to live for the rest of his life knowing a train he was in charge of hit an innocent girl. two families would be suffering at the moment |

| The train driver is not responsible for killing the young girl it was an accident and yes very tragic but there was nothing he could have done even when he applied the brakes, dont forget he is going to have to live with this for the rest of his life give him some compassion |

Y'know, I had a momentary brain-twist when I saw that headline. There's a young(-ish) actress who I knew (er hem) and for just a moment this bit of my mind sort of hoped it was her. Not that i wish her any harm, but that it'd be in some ways aggrandising for me to be able to say, "Oh, I used to go out with that girl who got hit by the train".
Is this normal? Like, it was only a teeny momentary thing.
I might add that I in no way wish to diminish this tragedy, and her family's grief, by yacking on about my mental fu(k-ups. It was just 'a moment of clarity'. |

The brother of Jessica Jacobs says his family was devastated when a rail official falsely said her death wasn't accidental.
Mr Jacobs said his stepfather and mother visited the station to view a makeshift shrine to Jessica when a woman working at the station told them it was not an accident. |
