| Berowra Waters is a middle to upper class part of Berowra but Berowra is by no means a wealthy suburb. |

Police unsure who stabbed mum, kids
15th May 2008, 15:30 WST
A cry for help alerted neighbours to a tragedy in a Sydney home where a "lovely" young mother was found dead from stab wounds and two of her three children injured.
Police converged on the house in leafy Cambewarra Crescent at Berowra Heights about 5am (AEST) Thursday, where they found the 29-year-old woman dead with several stab wounds to her upper body.
Her four-year-old daughter was rushed to hospital with serious neck injuries, along with her five-year-old girl, who had suffered minor injuries.
Their nine-year-old brother and 31-year-old father were home at the time but were not hurt.
Police could not rule out the possibility the woman may have attacked the children before stabbing herself.
"It's certainly part of our inquiries, yes," local area commander Superintendent Craig Rae told reporters.
"We will be looking at all avenues of inquiry and keeping an open mind at this stage of the investigation."
Police had not ruled the father in or out as a suspect, nor had they discounted the possibility an intruder was responsible, Supt Rae added.
"Because we are at such early stages, my feelings at the moment are, obviously, for the three young children who have unfortunately lost their mother," he said.
Jenny Coombes, who lives a few houses down the street, said she heard a man cry out about 5am.
"I heard someone say 'help'," she told Fairfax.
"It was just that one word I heard.
"You would have thought there would be more noise."
The incident shocked residents of the street, which was cordoned off with police tape and vehicles while the homicide squad, forensic police and detectives scoured the crime scene.
Mrs Coombes said the dead woman's mother had been happy the young family was staying at her house.
"She told me that her daughter was moving with her husband and three little kids to stay |

for a while," she said.
"She was very happy about that.
"They were trying to save money to move to Queensland."
A family friend, who didn't want to be named, said his children had grown up with the couple and his family "were all upset".
"She's a beautiful girl ... lovely girl, terrific kids," he said at the scene.
"I think you can tell my reaction - shock, horror."
He said the couple had been together for a number of years and, as far as he knew, the relationship was fine.
"I've got no idea (what happened)," he said.
He said the woman's mother had been away in Queensland visiting another daughter.
"I think they were just minding the house," he said.
The youngest girl was initially taken to Hornsby Hospital before being transferred to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Her five-year-old sister was admitted to the children's ward of Hornsby Hospital, while the nine-year-old boy remains with his father.
No one has been arrested or charged over the incident, police said.

This will be an interesting case. The mother was found hanged with numerous stab wounds to her upper body, one daughter seriously hurt also with stab wounds while the other daughter was not as seriously wounded. It happened between 4am and 5am when the girls were asleep, father called out "help" only once.
I don't think this was a murder/suicide but could in all probability made to look like one. |

| This is similar to the case in Melbourne. This woman was'nt on illegal drugs, was'nt an alcoholic. Her and her kids were very well liked in the Berowra community, they had just moved in with the maternal grandmother of the kids. Son was'nt touched, neither was the husband. I'm sure Hornsby Police are VERY suspecious of this case. |
