Here is a TIP on how to get a call centre to stop calling you.

Call Centre: "You have been selected for a new phone upgrade"
Me: "I will talk to you as soon as you give me your credit card number so that i can charge for talking me, i charge $100 in 2 minute intervals. Your number please."

Some mob sends us fax spam - I rang and asked for their fax number,"No sorry ma'am, can I help you?" I kept asking over and over "yes give me your fax number"....eventually I told them "so I can send you lot 100 pages of useless rubbish".
They hung up on me.

What's that call thing that you can set up on your phone and its suppose to limit how many of them ring you up? i forgotten the name of it. It was on the news once.

Call something rather? What's it called? Has anyone got that on their phone? someone told me that it does limit the amount of times they ring you but that it wont get rid of them competely.

The don't call register - charitys are exempt (so thats nearly all the callers) and you can''t have it on a business line. It also costs something like $5 per month.
Which is totally bogus - we have to pay to stop calls we don't want.

best way to annoy the telemarketers ? speak nicelt to them... let them go through their schpeil - at the end say politely "Sorry, there's someone at the door, do you mind holding?"... out the phone down and leave it there....(on mute)... if they're still on the phone after 10 minutes I'd be amazed! (Their phone call remember??) Good luck...otherwise if there's silence when you pick up, say hello, no answer - HANG UP !!

Is the tide turning.....

Australia's number two telco Optus has opened a new call centre in Melbourne.

Optus said the $8 million Flinders Street call centre would create 250 jobs, adding to its 3500 call centre staff across Australia.

It said the new centre would be fully operational by mid-February, conducting general and billing enquiries for telephony products in the consumer market.

Optus chief operating officer Paul O'Sullivan said the 250-seat centre would include the latest technology, including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), demonstrating the telco's commitment to superior customer service.

"Optus gets about 30 million calls a year from customers and that is growing at a rapid rate," he said.

"The company is also growing rapidly and we expect over the next five to 10 years we will double the size of the company and the number of our employees.

"We work in a highly competitive industry, and face relentless pressures to improve our services while reducing our costs," he said.

"Initiatives such as this ultra- modern, highly efficient call centre help us respond to that pressure."

Optus is wholly owned by Singapore Telecommunications.

best thing i heard was when a telemarkter rang this guy and he pretended to be the police grilled him out for ages, making out there was a dead body etc so funny the telemarketer krapolaed him self and hung up. if i can think of the site i heard it off i will post it for you all.

Aha! I just got a phone call just before. I said "Press 1 if you would like to hear the current movies that are currently screening". "Press 2 if you wish to hear the current timetable of the movies that are currently screening". "If you wish to choose neither, please hang up".

"Thank you for hanging up, goodbye". :D

haha don't get me started about cab drivers lol. Im sick of them thinking they can chat to me while taking me the longer way just to get more money. Pfftt!

Heard on the news the other night about a cab driver getting stabbed by a passenger in sydney. They have the riskiest jobs ever, i would never be one... not on my life!

What's with half of them being indian drivers anyway? Their needs to be more australian english drivers me thinks.

A new telstra tactic

Ring you up, try and get you to sign up for a service over the phone.

When you ask them to send some details for you to research first, they hang up on you.

Maybe australians dont want to be cab drivers. Otherwise there wouldnt be so many indian cab drivers. I dont mind them their nice to me but sometimes its a little hard trying to understand what their saying.

I had a female curry muncher ring me the other day to try sign me up for a "free" phone...I just told her to FK OFF and hung up on her!

20Secs later the phone rang again and it was her, she said oh if you don't want to talk thats fine just don't be so rude, I replied with didn't I just tell you TO FK OFF?

The cheek of they basta rds..Now every day I get about three calls from them....nothing you can do except scream obsenities at them I guess!

Thats the ULTIMATE way to get them to keep ringing. Best off taking the approach my boss took by asking them for their credit card details before talking and inform them you charge in intervals of a minute to listen to them.

AND the best part, your legally entitled to charge them.
