| Does anyone have a clue why, when I click on "Turn off" button for PC, it immediately reboots. It is soooooooo annoying! Is there something in the settings that can fix it? Thanks in advance! |

By "turn off" do you mean "Shut Down" ? If so, the next time you "shut down" check what options come up before clicking "Ok". You can change to "Shut down", "Restart" and a couple of others. I suspect yours has been changed to Restart.
If not have no idea |

| If all else fails, hold the power button down and count 5 seconds. |

My restart doesn't work - sends everything haywire.
Sometimes in desperation i have to turn it off at the wall and unplug every cord and plug it all back in.
After doing that 4 or 5 times it works. |

<<<If all else fails, hold the power button down and count 5 seconds>>>
If it goes bang and starts to smoke don't do it again.
Seriously though the answer probably lies in the shutdown settings, as someone said it possible defaults to restart. |

this is rather simple... go to bios settings and change it (you did not give any clue what motherboard) for stay off after power failure! this is hardware setting not software!
write what computer (especially motherboard!) and i will write you here procedure, but not today...
belarc advisor (google it!) will tell you what model of mb you have. |

is it possible that infact you are not turning it off but turning it on again ?
the buttons on the front of mine are standby & start,
the off button is at the back, when i power down windows by hitting, start, turn off computer, you get the choice of standby, turn off & restart, also cancel,
is it possible that in stead of hitting the middle icon[turn off] you are hittin the far left icon[standby] then after it powers off , you hit the on button at the front[not the off button at all]
just a question it could be the restart button, could'nt it ?
cheers

Most of the time Computers are getting loud because the fan is on it's way out and or needs a clean, it will save everybody plenty of money of ocassionally you take the top off and simply blow the dust out, you will be amazed at how much is in there, dust and electronics=no good. |

| No, it used to turn off but has just started this behaviour. I'm sure there are gremlins in it because there are times when the sound doesn't work, while I'm trying to talk on the microphone as well. |

If undoing a few screws and gently blowing some dust out seems to much to handle szure, don't do it.
Sometimes I wonder why I try to help out here, when every "wit" comes along to have their little dig. |

A computer tech told me NOT to open my computer, OR, to even use a vaccuum on the outside fan slats.....I know nothing about computers, so, I do as I am told.
Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today?...lol
I have always maintained that I AM a computer dummy. |

No I didn't get out of the wrong side of the bed, but I am sick of giving people FREE advice only to be told by someone who knows very little about computers, or is willing to quote a pimply tech on about 30k, against my 20 plus years of experience..
..Although he may have been right, after all.. don't open it because I didn't say vacuum ANYWHERE, I said blow gently... even got that wrong I see. |
