I think bulldoost is on the right track but I think it's more a firefox problem than AVG's. IE is working fine for me with AVG, much better than I remember actually. Try it idontlikechookstheypeck, you can always go back to FF
Anybody got the new windows yet, wonder how all this stuff is going to work with that. |

Didn't make much sense this end, either. He lost me after the 'UNIX' part:-)
Unix is a professional operating system unlike Windows which was designed for oiks & linux which is effectively a boy-wonder version of Unix. Both Unix and Linux are to all intents and purposes impervious to virii, trojan. malware & other nasties. Both are FREE for home users (meaning no moronic authentication / validation / verification crap) & come with Firefox browser, OpenOffice (similar to MS Office except it doesn't play the mindless version game) & all the other essential utilites one is expected to pay extra for with MicroCrap. |

'Unix is a professional operating system'
Er... I am perfectly aware of what UNIX is, having been a computer user for over 25 years, it was the REST of the post which made no sense. |

Problem solved, it was firefox<<
Umm...just recently I had a BAD firefox add-on which my Norton informed me of, so I uninstalled it. Everything is fine now.
I'm not sure why you don't like Norton, but for a 'puter dummy' like myself it's perfect. EXCEPT- don't get the cheapest one! It's useless. Upgrade to the next higher protection (forget the name, sorry), AND, it's half the price, I found, by buying it from a computer tech (from a store) instead of by myself from my puter!
And, it annually self-adjusts with my credit card no., doesn't run out.
I never have to check anything, never have to worry, never have to worry about computer crashes (oops- never say never)....but, you get my drift. Eh?
There are so many viruses and stuff in online 'free' software virus removal stuff that it's damn criminal, y'know, even from so-called IT websites, yeah, I've tried em. |

I have been running AVG Paid for 1yr (2yr lic), 8.5 was a disaster, it has upgraded to 9, all runs great now. Since Ad Aware upgraded it doesn't function on my Asus M/B, My foxconn M/B puter is OK , but wiped out all the New ASUS downloads for my new board which were in a CD image - identified all but the Linux ezboot file as TAI 10 and removed them. Maybe thats why it crashes on the ASUS board |

i know that 8,5 was a disaster, i was first aware of it in about november last year, i did some research and reverse engineering on it and then i did ask some questions directly from avg, they apologised and said that that is correct way in they opinion and that they will do it since then, change bit of tune when they lost to best of my knowledge few million customers due to this calamity.
paid version do differ from free version in several ways, including that free version is always at least two to three revisions behind, and it actually contain "skimmed" version of database.
i would not bother with ad-aware at all.. not even with paid version! once upon a time it was one of the greatest programs...
you cannot transpose foxconn and asus... you can download on foxconn your ezboot but you need to install and run it on asus mb... it installs reference itself in mbr and will crash non-asus systems in most cases as it refers to asus strings in cmos.
now, ezboot is ok if you use several different system startups (in my case i have 3 different os running on 3 hdd in array...), this asus "invention": is then rather handy and simplify the selection process, beside, if you play only video - you do not need to start your os... |

Sorry we have a misunderstanding.
The ASUS files on the foxconn were purely as file storage yhat were built into a CD image. Even I wouldn't try to run M/B drivers etc on other than the appropriate M/B |

this mean that your iso from asus did not load in full or loaded erroneously, happend every so often, especially if you use http download, try ftp...
load again and burn again, preferably on older nero! or one of freebies. newest nero have this disconcerning ability to ruin everything what is not nrg file... |
