Cant get a virus by opening an email... for the virus to enter your pc you need to click on the attachment that the email has... reading the email itself is harmless.
The above is from another post. Is that true?
I'd love to read some emails I receive which appear suspicious, but delete them just to be on the safe side.
Anyone know if the above is accurate? |

Never had one of those emails son. They seem to have had quite an effect on yourself though.
Did it work? Or do they send examples of the subject matter for you to drool over.
Whatever floats your boat mate. |

Yes Your PC can Become Infected with a Virus by opening an Email.
Porn sites are the most common threats as well music download sites, movie, ringtone websites, Etc.....
Use 2 firewalls , Spyware and Antivurus removal tools, Mozilla firefox as a Browser, and i doubt you'll ever have any more Virus issues. |

'Yes Your PC can Become Infected with a Virus by opening an Email.'
Ah, no. It can't. An e-mail is only a text file.
BUT...opening an ATTACHMENT can give you nasties.
Not sure....don't open the attachment.
Simple. |

No need to double-click to be infected by Netsky-V
Sophos researchers have warned customers to ensure their computers are properly patched against known Microsoft security vulnerabilities as the W32/Netsky-V worm spreads without using email attachments.
Whereas other widespread versions of the Netsky worm have infected users by tempting them to double-click on an email attachment, W32/Netsky-V exploits security loopholes in Microsoft's software that mean users can be hit just by reading an email. Emails containing the exploit attempt to download a copy of the worm from another user's computer. |

"Ah, no. It can't. An e-mail is only a text file.

so totally wrong..
there are heaps of exploits for html based email that only rely on the email being "previewed" in the reading pane..
you CANT get trojans by simply viewing the email.. to say you cant is total rubbish
"Dubbed W32.Klez.E, this worm emerges when you view an infected e-mail message in the preview window." |
