Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
Agree with Bunnu wouldn't touch one even if it was free. Apparently a new model is coming out next year. You might want to wait until then and see what additional features it has.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
yup agree with all above, DO NOT DO IT. My internet provider has it, but they even recommend not using it "for some time" because of technical issue. It was rushed out and now they are trying to fix all of the problems. I have also spoken to a few people (who contacted me from one of them ) and it was dropping out and very poor quality. Stay with tried and tested.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
A co-worker bought one in the US a few months ago. I've had a play with it. It's brilliant.

I'm not a gizmo kind of guy, but I'll be getting one.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
I certainly will be getting one. The iphone is what is known as a category buster. It ease of use and its good teachnology coupled with its price will blow other mobile phones out of the water. The new iphone will see the other mobile phone companies playing catch up and imitating. The new iphone will also drive down the price of buying a mobile.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
The new iphone 3g which is due to be released worldwide on july 11th will be awesome and definately worth getting. I have been wanting to get some kind of gps device for a while now and also perhaps an ipod for my ever growing podcast and mp3 collection. What better way to do this with a device which has all these features. I cannot wait, apparently it will be around the 200 dollar mark although I am sure that is with a 2 year contract with 3 or optus. Time will tell.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
I'm a bit concerned as to how it will access the Internet when away from a WiFi modem. They say it would use the "cellular network" but will they charge a FORTUNE???? GOD HELP ME IF THEY DO, I'LL SUE THEIR ****S OFF if they hit me with huge bills such as that

I think what you decide to display on its large screen can make up for its physical appearence.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
But is a phone always about functions, or the ability to be a fashion accessory. For meitds the later. I like to coordinate. So long as I can recieve from and call/SMS my family friends I'm hapy. I have a camera I have a computer, I personally don't need my phone to do those things.BUT I do like it to look good when I place it on the table when I'm out.

I'm a sucker for new toys. I'm also a mac man... so, yes, there's a good chance that my next phone will be of the "i" variety.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
Go and have a play with an Itouch and tell me its not an awesome piece of electronics. Add a phone and it is a must have. GPS is only assisted GPS so its more like where-am-i than turn by turn. I've got an Ultimate 9502 with every bell and whistle and an ITouch. The new IPhone merges the 2. Pity its not on Telstra, but I should be able to unlock it. At $200-$300 its a steal.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
What a bunch of fools most of the posters in this forum are.

First off it will do you no good to 'unlock' it since you're obliged to sign a 2 year contract before you leave the store with a new iphone.

Second off, for all you whingers out there, the original iphone works fantastically and looks great. Show me another phone that can store 10+ hours of movies/TV shows, hundreds of CDs of music, works brilliantly as an ebook (I'm now reading my 5th book on my iphone), has dictionaries that can translate between a whole range of languages, polls your email server regularly for mail, and has a brilliant web-browser.

And for those saying 'their mate has one and it drops out' you're full of sh**. The new iphone hasn't even been released so how does your 'mate' have one? Once again the internet appears to be a pile of streaming sh** drawing the idiotic opinions of so many flies.

The real question you should be asking is, whether it is worth paying $70 a month for 2 years for which totals around $2000 once you've factored in the $200 purchase price.

Re:the iPhone Reply to this message
Umm Raphael, you have such a winning way of putting things... lol

You can Unlock a phone that is on contract.

a Couple of people I know have had the iphone for a little while now, they had brought them back from the states.. so I guess they would know if it "drops out"

From my experience any new technology needs "bedding down time", time to iron out bugs etc, I think the phone sounds great, but will wait a year or so before thinking of investing in one... I remember the blackberries were the same.. heaps of trouble with the early ones, functional as well as compatibility issues.

have you ever bought a mobile phone in Australia ?

why do you think when iphone is released in Australia you'll be obliged to sign a contract before you leave the store with a new iphone ?

I have one great phone there is one annoying thing with it when you hold the phone to your ear it disconnects because your ear touches the screen. you have to have the headset and if you are going to buy from Optus $59 a month is the best deal

Had a choice between an iPhone, blackberry and a HTC PDA. Went for the PDA and was glad I did.
