actually i am user of e-bay, it is most repulsive move which will most probably kill finally that site...
they increase percentage, have lower number of registered consumers than two years ago and yet they proffit raised by 140%!
charging me, as a seller say now close to 10% and then on top of that 2.5% for paypal - stuff'em! i can have in town auction house which will charge me 20%... and there is advantage as well to local guy selling my stuff... |

I found a new auction site called www.oztion.com.au the other day. I haven't registered there myself yet, but I did notice a lot of familiar former eBay user names there when I was looking around.
Might be the way to go. |

I was once a very big seller on ebay and now I sell a couple things a year. The reasons are pretty simple. Ebay is the enemy of the seller! And they are no friend of the buyer either. It was first to market which is why it is so large but in every respect other sites are superior. Lower fees, better service, more respect, lower fees, less farud lower fees. Did I mention lower fees? Now with the mandatory paypal decision they are just further increasing fees. But any seller who has used paypal knows the incredible risk you take for fraud. The buyer can claim it was not received and paypal will refund the money after a 'investigation'. the investigation doesnt take place of course and the sller has to prove he sent the goods. Registered post is NOT considered proof - only the use of a courier is considered.
I hope ebay dies as a result of this. every single decision they make is to benefit themselves. Ive never seen a decision in favour of buyers or sellers (other than those forced on them by the courts of the govt).
IN terms of customer service, ebay and paypal take 1st and 2nd in the 'worst customer service' stakes.
death to ebay! |

| I also was a big seller on ebay but not anymore. I kept my prices as low as I could but now with Paypal being the only way of payment and more fees I just can't put my prices up any higher as if I did there would be less sales. Ebay are just getting too greedy and now are dictating to the seller and the buyer. I have registered with www.oztion.com.au so I will give them a go. I have also noticed that some sellers that I have in my favourites on ebay are not listing items anymore so that should tell us all that ebay have made the wrong decision. I read the news article at the top of this topic so I hope the Reserve Bank steps in as ebay are not giving the seller or the buyer any choice. Just have to wait and see. |

According to eBay notices to registered members, anyone who doesnt have Paypal as their chosen payment method will have their listings pulled until they comply.
My problem with Paypal is, because of the 'insurance'for buyers all a buyer has to do is to say that they havent received their goods and Paypal freezes their payment pending an investigation. After a set period of time they then usually find in the favour of the buyer and refund the money to them leaving the seller out of pocket and without the goods.
you then have to go back to eBay and try and have your selling fees credited. |

I am actually really angry with ebay at the moment - i have just been ripped off by a scammer who has like 16-20 negative feedbacks on his profile, which i know i should have looked at before i bought the item.
But now after paying for it, he has not contacted me - i have filed a dispute with ebay and all they can say is "wait ten days and upgrade the dispute to a report" or "contact your local authorities" they haven't shut him down or anything.
and myself and all these people have been scammed. |

I have been registered with Ebay for over 3 years with 400 feedback. Fairly small time of the scheme of things, but definately a regular buyer and seller.
Not any more. I am totally finished, done, the end, that's it. I mainly sold small items that I had picked in bulk. But now with this triple dipping of fees there is no point. The charge to list, charge to sell then charge a compulsory fee to accept payment the only way permitted.
If I sold an item for say $6, then I would have nothing left. Plus I would be forced to pay Pal Pal fees on pastage so you loose more there. God forbit you charge your seller a little extra to cover the postage cost you lost in fees.
Nah... that's it. I hope it hurts them bad. If you go on there now there are pretty much ZERO at home sellers. It is now mainly shops in China and Malaysia. They have killed the spirit with their greed.
Hopefully other online auction sites will get really big before Ebay decide to s c rap their triple dipping. (Which they will cause no one will use them, and they will wake up to themselves) But HOPEFULLY by then it will be too late. |

| Tonight I logged onto my ebay account to leave feedback for a buyer but a pop up came up stating that I have to leave positive feedback or none at all. What is ebay upto as a buyer can leave negative or neutral feedback to a seller but the seller has no recall. I have a 100% positive feedback of over 1580 sales so after the 21st of this month I will no longer be selling on ebay. Ebay will be the loser as I can see many more sellers going to other auction sites. I asked ebay once about GST on the fees that they charge as I list my items on the Aussie site and their answer was no as the billing for fees comes from overseas so its another ripoff for Aussie sellers. Wonder if the Government know about this as its lost revenue for them also. |

| I buy from many places. If ebay has unique piece if it pops up at a better price, I will buy it. Most auction houses screw you anyway. |

I have bought off ebay successfully in the past but will not use Pay Pal. Today, after reading about oztion here I checked it out. Looks good, and every seller is in OZ.
Joined up and bought something too. So far so good.
Their format is very similar to ebay. |
