It's a funny thing, the dreaded concept that is 'socialism'

Should Australia abandon IT'S socialist aspects ?

Aged Pension ?
SOCIALIST

Free Education ?
SOCIALIST

Public Hospitals ?
SOCIALIST

But THEY'RE not 'socialist'
We've ALWAYS had THEM

'Socialism' is about NEW state funded care, for those that cannot afford their OWN care

.

So, as an anti-communist campaigner, SURELY, you must oppose nationalised health care ?

Correct. It is a great system as it is more humane.

It is not surprised to see that implementing aspects of socialist system will attract criticizing from some people.

For example, In the old Tibet under serfdom, 95% of resources were belong to 5% of population (Dalai Lama & serf owner class) while the other 95% of population only shared 5% of resources. When the serfdom was abandoned & replaced by the socialist system by the central government of China, serf owners lost their privileges & resources in Tibet are shared about evenly by all Tibetans, and as a result the average lifespan of Tibetans increases from 35.5 year in 1959 to 67 in 2008. Clearly, replacing the serfdom by socialism is a great social civilization . But serf owner class lost their privilege, and that is why there were Tibet riots in the past (in 1959, ... & 2008). Not surprised to see serf owner class's violent riots killing innocent people as they are not happy with the lost of privilege. But it is very surprised to see Western world and western media supported the Tibet riots in the past.

Anyway, socialism is great in many aspects in the sense that it takes more care of people in particular those who are poor or not so capable. In a civilization country, government's policy should be made more favor of those who are poor or not so capable as these are the people who need help. China, as a socialist country, has done well in this. Australia, although is not a socialist country, has also done quite well by adopting some aspects of socialism such as Aged Pension, Free public Education, Public Hospitals etc. Now it is good to see that USA has also moved one step toward socialism (take care of more people rather than just concern only money).

From the financial crisis, it seems clear that USA's high living standard is built on the poor of people in some other countries. China alone has around 2000 billions of USA dollars. This seems to suggest that many countries indeed send goods to USA for some papers (USA dollars). If all countries holding USA dollars were to purchase goods from USA using the USA dollars holding, USA's economics would perhaps collaps. If USA were not to change their policy, surely such a economic collaps would occur sooner or later.
