The Unbelievable Laborites Reply to this message
<<< You know when Peter Costello tried to sell the GST, he couldn't get his foot past the door at any radio or television station without people asking how the GST would effect themselves, there lifestyles, everything.

And its so amazing how not many people are asking the same questions about this CARBON TAX. its amazing.

So far Kevin Rudd has not explained to anyone or released a study on how this CARBON TAX will effect
Industry
Employment
OR any economic models on what it would do to the national economy ??

No questions to Kevin Rudd about this CARBON TAX
And yet people had alot of the questions 10 years ago on the GST ???

Amazing !

Well it seems with a Labor government, we live in an age of stupidity. >>>

My post from the thread RUDDS POTENTIAL COSTLY DISASTER.

========================= ========================= =

Oh yes I wonder why this CARBON TAX doesnt face the same scrutiny by the Laborites as the GOODS AND SERVICES TAX was 10 years ago. ???

I mean the GOOD AND SERVICES TAX was brought in to reform and replace the unfair federal wholesale sales tax system.

And this CARBON TAX is supposed to help fight this climate change caused by humans, LOL

GIMME A BREAK, LOL

Re:The Unbelievable Laborites Reply to this message
I'm not a "Laborite" but certainly not a Liberal either. More of an existentialist, I suppose.

;)

I thought the GST was a good idea, nonetheless.

I have an issue with certain items attracting it though.

I would actually prefer it taken off all essential items and raised a percent or two to make up for the shortfall. Tax away on junk food, alcohol and any other items that aren't necessary to live from day to day. I don't really have an issue paying a few dollars more for dinner in a nice restaurant or a big night out and I think that most people wouldn't really notice the difference.

Those who are struggling would probably appreciate the grocery bill being a little smaller from week to week, though.

To tell the truth, I really don't get why people scream and rant about taxes. I'm more worried about City's chances against *** nal in the Quarter finals than I am about whether some portion of my tax dollars are keeping some guy in surfboard wax and weed or some immigrant family set up a new life for themselves.

Life really is too short for that cr@p.

Time for the opposition to mount a campaign, instead of whimpering - "why isn't anyone questioning them like they questioned us? sob sob?"

Geez stryder, do your own dirty work.

your right footbru... time to get dirty... get on with it Turnbull... lets talk TAX.. I dont agree with lef though the idea about the GST was everyone had to chip in.. big and small..and lets face it... be honest its worked..havent heard a whinge about GST for yonks...and I believe thats because we knew what we were in for...the wholesale tax system was a nightmare.GST NZ its 12.5%.

we all have to do our bit. to get the conditions we like living in...but this emissions TAX is another ball game.. and if they know so much about how much we will save and the benefit the world... then they should know HOW MUCH IT WILL COST.

I would love to ask him some questions but then again I know I would never be allowed because he would vet all the questions before hand, so what is the point. The opposition should be doing it but Malcolm is gutless.

stryder110011: People are quite aware of the fact that GST was introduced in other countries prior to being introduced here; no new concept or original thought required; so questions could be asked regarding GST.

ETS on the other hand IS an original concept requiring further detail prior to anyone asking questions on this matter; that is why the opposition is having such a bad time or an (original thought).

Re:The Unbelievable Laborites Reply to this message
When you are a prime minister in New York for the United Nations conference on climate change and your schedule is jammed, it is nice when stores stay open just for you.

That explains why the lights were still on at the Argosy Book Store, at 116 East 59th Street, long past closing time on Monday. The Australian prime minister, Kevin Rudd, and his wife, Thérèse Rein, did not arrive until 8:30 p.m. Aides had called ahead, and two of the three sisters who own the store, Naomi Hample and Adina Cohen, had stayed behind when the store closed at 6 p.m.

The visit was a surprise for Mr. Rudd’s 52nd birthday. “This was the gift his wife gave him,” Mrs. Hample said. “He didn’t know where he was. We explained.” Read more…
