I'm surprised there aren't more people outraged over the current state the Victorian public transport system is in!
Apparently the Victorian State government has p1ssed away $1.3 BILLION taxpayer dollars on a ticketing system that was not required, is 3 years behind schedule, millions over budget and now we hear isn't even commuter friendly!
In the MYKI manual - it states that if you board a tram with a pre-paid ticket and cannot validate it on one of the scanners - you are then required to either purchase ANOTHER ticket or get off the tram and find other means of transport!
the State Government and MYKI don't give a sh1t if your card or the scanners are faulty - it is the commuters responsibility to have a validated ticket when travelling or else be FINED!
Given the horror stories about all the computer glitches MYKI has had over the past 3 years - it is very likely there'll be hundreds and thousands of very p1ssed off commuters when it eventually comes into force!
And BTW - if the public transport system is supposedly PRIVATISED - why the fkc are taxpayers paying for a new ticketing system???
Kosky should be booted out of office at the next election - sooner if Brumby had the guts!
2010 will see a lot more Victorians travelling by car - thanks to MYKI! |

Why they should be outraged ??
They keep relecting Labor, as far Im concerned they should be used to incompetent and bad management because thats what Labor is all about.
And far as im concerned the Victorian Laborites deserve the shambles like there NSW comrades |

| Why is it that there is a huge network of bus services in Sydney, yet this option is rarely used in Melbourne? Melbourne has become the biggest rat race ever, the public transport never goes anywhere passengers would want to go, and we're still using cars for nearly every trip. The silly thing is that the tram system typically ends 12 miles from the CBD, yet there are no car parks at the terminuses. The Melbourne City Council is trying to make things better? They're making parking in the CBD more difficult, and expensive - REALLY DUMB!! But what can you expect with a Lord Mayor like Robert Doyle - not the brightest light bulb in the factory! |

Apparently the money allocated to this MYKI system could have bought 65 NEW TRAINS for Victoria!
And according to the Age - there were other ticketing systems - both here and abroad - that Victoria could have purchased and then modified at a fraction of the cost the MYKI system is costing us.
The biggest fault is the requirement to scan your ticket everytime you board and again when you disembark!
Imagine those commuters who have difficulty getting on and off trams! The elderly, the disabled, parents with prams!
Brumby and Kosky had the option of cutting their losses - like the NSW government did - and cancelling the MYKI years ago - but they have decided to just keep throwing taxpayer money away on something that was NEVER REQUIRED!
Just imagine those 65 new trains?
Or even friendly tram conductors to help you buy your ticket?
Or more staff at train stations to ensure your safety?
Even toilet facilities open for those who might be unwell?
Kosky and Brumby should lose a lot of votes for this fiasco!
But given the way Ballieu and his mob have remained silent over this - I doubt it!
Seems to me that ministers from both major parties might have their fingers in the MYKI cookie jar!
Come clean Brumby and Ballieu!
How much of a PERSONAL investment do you both have in this MYKI sh1t that you are flinging on us down trodden commuters?????? |

I expressed my disgust with MYKI with both the MYKI and Lynn Kosky.
As has been reported elsewhere - Ms Kosky refuses to read any complaints about the public transport system and her office does not even keep records of any such feedback from customers.
She b1tched about getting this portfolio and has repeatedly told people that any complaints with the public transport system should be directed to Connex (now Metro) and MYKI directly.
Her "it's not my problem" attitude towards Victoria's public transport shambles is exactly the reason why it is in the such a disgraceful state.
John Brumby's continued defence of her deplorable performance is also a disgrace.
And the oppositions head in sand response to all of this is just as nauseating!
My friends and I are betting that the MYKI system will not be rolled out in Melbourne until 2010 - maybe even after the State election!
Just think what this $1.3 BILLION could have been spent on!!!!
The mind just boggles and the heart just weeps over this colossal and inexcusable waste of taxpayer money! |

And here's the response I got from MYKI - it's in 2 parts;-
"Dear Bette,
Thank you for taking the time to contact myki.
It is feedback such as yours that enables us to improve our facilities and provide excellent service to our customers.
We feel confident once myki is launched in Melbourne the benefits of the new system will vastly improve your current impression. myki has undergone and is still undergoing extensive testing across metropolitan Melbourne on all trams, trains and buses. It will work as planned when it is introduced in Melbourne at the end of 2009 and on V/Line services in 2010. It is already working successfully across a number of regional areas including Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Seymour and Gippsland.
The switch to myki will provide a significant and necessary change to Melbourne’s public transport ticketing system. The smartcard technology that myki makes use of is now being introduced across public transport systems around the world. Additionally, myki will provide customers with seamless travel across Victoria, both through regional areas and metropolitan Melbourne. myki is convenient as customers can use the one durable card and will not need to purchase tickets every day. On each journey myki automatically calculates the best fare, which can save up to 40% on the cost of short term tickets. Customers will have greater flexibility and more payment options with myki, including paying online and by calling 13 myki (136954).
Customers who register their myki will have many other advantages, such as:" |

Part 2;-
"Balance protection – this is automatic when you register your myki. If your myki is registered and you report your myki as lost or stolen (via myki.com.au or the call centre), your old card will be cancelled so it cannot be fraudulently used. The remaining balance can be transferred to a new replacement myki (for a fee of $9.80).
Auto top up. This is where you set up your myki account to automatically add money to your myki once the balance hits a certain value.
Manage your account online or via the call centre. This means you can check your balance, days remaining on a myki pass, travel history, arrange top up over the phone or online and change personal details.
Link and manage another person’s account to your own. For example you can manage a child’s myki.
Make enquiries and obtain tax invoices in relation to your myki account.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact myki. We appreciate your feedback and we will be forwarding it to the relevant myki business unit
Should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us either by calling our myki Customer Call Centre on 13 myki (136954) 7 days a week between 6:00am – 10:00pm AEST, or submitting feedback via our website at myki.com.au.
Kind regards,
