Have a look at home invasions (and violent crime in general) in Australia, the UK and the US
The have a look at the availability of guns, in all three
Then tell me that a couple of guns in every house-hold is the way to go

Buzz, when will you get it through your thick skull that there is very little gun crime in the US outside of the ghetto and not involving crime and drugs and blacks and Latino's and the weapons used in that scenario are all illegal anyway.

Baha, I have lived in Illinois, Northern California and South Carolina over a period of a few years and I have never seen any type of crime in any of those states.
In fact I have seen more incidents of crime in central Melbourne on a saturday night than the US. |

Aspen South Carolina is a beautiful state. Friendly people, a growing economy in Columbia and Charleston and fantastic natural scenery.
It's a taste of the Southland.
PS - you can still get plenty of moonshine if that's what you're after. |

You're basing your view of the whole state on a part of history thirty, forty, fifty years old.
Yes, there remains some natural segregation and mutual suspicion but no more so than you find it New York, Los Angeles or even Sydney! |

I will readily admit there remains a considerable portion of the state (particularly inland and outside of Charleston, Columbia and Florence) as being redneck and not welcoming of black people.
Unfortunately that will remain prevalent for many decades, but the state has moved on a good deal.
Obama picked up 45% vs McCain's 55% in SC - which shows it has moved on. |
