As can be seen from the graph in the following link, the world population has increased to nearly 11 Billion people.
If the current relation between countries remained the same, this would roughly equate to the following populations -
1) China - 2.4 Billion
2) India - 1.6 Billion
3) US - 500 Million
4) Australia - 35 Million
This is an unlikely future, in my opinion, but can you glimpse the possibilities?

slr,
Sorry, I can't seem to get into your first link.
However, our current Global population is 6.5 Billion and we have increased to there, after being at 2 Billion around 70 years ago.
So, if we continue at or near the similar rate, then 11 Billion is close?
That said, you say its 5 Billion too much, which would put the population at around 6.0 Billion.
That would mean a 0.5 Billion reduction in Global population over the next 90 years?
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are wrong.
In fact, I believe the population, by then, may actually be less than 6.0 Billion.
But, do you recognise the implications of that, in so many areas, not the least of which, is economics? |

Junk food and polution will cull the population before then. Nothing to worry about.
In fact, humans will probably be extinct by then if they maintain the status quo. |

You wouldn't be thinking that perpetual economic growth may not be possible would you PN? |

| I will give PN full credit for sticking with his doomsday predictions even while many around him are jettisoning them quicker than a refugee chucks his child overboard. |

Fertility rates around the world are dropping for a variety of complex reasons. While population itself continues to increase - the United States, for instance, recently passed the 300 million mark - this is the product of waning demographic momentum. The rate of increase is slowing, and by 2080 world population will peak somewhere in the vicinity of nine billion before contracting.
