Speaking of grids, Denrose et al...
Grid-based power (and water) systems are a significant part of the problem facing most countries around the world...
Not only are such systems unduly vulnerable to widespread outages, but they present real socio-economic problems in the modern context of infrastructure privatisation...
In times of war and terrorism (same thing) and natural disaster, cen *** ed power (and water) supplies create undue vulnerabilities to citizens, corporations and governments - an this is severely exacerbated by privatisation...
The quickest way to disrupt (and the best way to take down a nation), is to destroy its infrastructure - power, water, roads and rail (bridges), air and sea ports, etc...
The more c.e.n.t.r.a.l.i.s.e.d and privatised that infrastructure is, the more vulnerable a country is to destructive attacks...
Contrary to claims of competitive efficiency, privatisation of essential infrastructure and services, INEVITABLY leads to increased costs to consumers - citizens, corporations and governments!
Private suppliers have strongly vested interests in keeping the nation on heavily monopolised grid-based systems, which ensures a regular and perpetual cashflow from CAPTIVE CLIENTS who will be forced to pay ever-increasing costs!
It is therefore imperative, that Australia resists the temptation (and pressure) to further privatise essential services and infrastructure - and it is sheer folly, to persist with highly c.e.n.t.r.a.l.i.s.e.d and therefore INHERENTLY RISKY power and water supplies...
Renewable energy lends itself very well to d.e.c.e.n.t.r.a.l.i.s.e.d generation and storage - especially in the vast continent of Australia - yet our pollies have allowed themselves to be led by the agendas of big corporate players and given far too little attention to the advantages of d.e.c.e.n.t.r.a.l.i.s.e.d power generation...
It's time to change the prevailing mindset... |

I get frustrated at the lack of intelligence here occasionally, and this is one such occasion.
_/_/_/
People have fought over a person's colour of skin, genitalia, religion, sexual persuasions, basically anything and everything ... this time we are fighting over the right for humanity to existed.
The choice is stark ... we can carry on for the next half a dozen years, happy in the knowledge that the majority of humans on this planet are without the basics rights every human should be guaranteed. This is not caused by some external force of nature, no pie in the sky angry deity, it is caused by a belief that we are superior to them ... that my rights are greater than yours or vice versa.
Well the campaigns of the past for women, for children, for people of colour, for religious freedom or the current gay equality pales compared with the campaign for humanities right to exist beyond a handful of decades.
Coal is turning our oceans acid ... coal is polluting our lungs, food, land with it's toxins ... coal is increasing the speed of the collapse of of survivable climate.
Coal is convenience for Australia ... easy money from exports, subsidised electricity.
Yet the time is coming to pay the piper ... pay those subsides either with the extinction, or the evolution of humanity.
You may be frustrated pathogan ... something I am not because I know Australians with not fail me by following the propaganda, greed or small thinking of the coal lobby.
Renewable Energy = Sustainability
Sustainability = Humanities Survival and Evolution.
