WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Republican vice presidential candidate, said Friday she is resigning from office at the end of the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.
Palin made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla, Alaska, on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26 but did not announce her plans.
"It is my duty to always protect our great state," Palin said in a statement released by her office. "With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success."
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month, Palin spokesman Dave Murrow said.
Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform. But her popularity has waned as she waged in partisan politics following her return from the presidential campaign. Her term would have ended in 2010. |

It has been widely known that Palin would resign as Governor and become a Senator in a safe Republican state - to boost her chances in becoming PRESIDENT in 2012!
Yep - all you Palin fans who felt she had the necessary skills and experience to be Vice President (a Big hello to Andrew Bolt!) can now rejoice that she has now the necessary skills and experience to become PRESIDENT!
Many George W Bush supporters (another big hello to Andrew Bolt!) are rejoicing over the possibility of Palin becoming President.
"I'll sure vote for Sarah" said Joe the Plumber. "I've been out of work ever since that black fellow rigged the election and caused the USA to go bankrupt. We need someone like Sarah who will pray to god and make things right in our great country!"
"I'll definitely be voting for Sarah" said Mrs Gladys Codswallop. "She preaches good old fashioned family values like "abstinence" and is a church goer! Unlike that Muslim terrorist currently in office! We should march down to the White house, tar and feather him and string him up from a nearby oak tree!"
Former world leader, John Howard, was asked what he thought of Sarah Palin becoming President, "Well I would prefer women to be chained to the kitchen sink cooking and cleaning... but Palin is a Republican, white, christian and has a wonderful family and most importantly can string 3 words together! That's one more than my good mate George W could do! Well anything is better than that black muslim fellow that is currently President! I hear that he pals around with terrorists and believes the earth is ROUND!!! Can you believe such witchdoctor nonsense? But what do you expect from these darkies! Breaking news!
There was more good news in the Sarah Palin household today.
Shortly after announcing her resignation as Governor of Alaska, the Republican Party offered her a job as SENATOR of Alaska AND she has been automatically pre-selected as the Republican Party's nominee for the 2012 Presidential election.
The champagne corks were popping and Mrs Palin thanked everyone for their support and said she had another announcement!
From another room, Sarah's 5 children enter. Bristle is holding her baby boy Trigger and little Pipper is holding her baby brother Tractor.
Sarah then announces that Bristle has reunited with the Alaskan men's hockey team and is pregnant once again!
The crowd loudly cheer and give Bristle and the hockey players a standing ovation!
"But wait there's more!" Sarah shouts. "my other 2 daughters are pregnant too!!!"
The whole room goes berserk and Mrs Palin is now a shoo in to beat Obama in 2012 and become President of the USA! |

vegitamite - I totally forgot about the upcoming disaster movie called "2012".
Now It all makes sense.
November 2012 - American voters have had enough of poweful, respectful, intelligent leadership and decide to vote for Grandmother of 12 Sarah Palin to be their new leader.
Her first decisions would be to ban all religions - except Christianity, round up all the blacks, asians, muslims and gays and line them up against a wall, and then declare war on China and Russia.
Yep - that'll bring an end to the world by 2012. |

| btw - it's odd that the godbotherers are pushing the 2012 thing - as it is based on the Mayan calendar ending the current cycle then. The problem is, it doesn't mean the end of the world, just that the counting system resets and starts a new cycle. |
