The man is drunk with power and is starting to wade way out of his depth were his portfolio as PM is concerned.
He seems to have an opinion on every dam thing including the Gordon Ramsey V's Tracey Grimshaw saga and he uses the media when ever it suits his cause.
If I were him I'd back right off from the media they are 90% why his popularity is so high at the moment and if they turn on you look out Mr Rudd. Oh Please turn on him Please! |

KEVIN Rudd may have failed to emulate Bob Hawke's "love affair with the Australian people", but his honeymoon with much of the media shows no sign of losing its ardour after 18 months in office.
Rudd's triumph has been to water down a ruthless political will with a warm-and-cuddly persona that has been sold to the public on media platforms that were regarded as beneath his predecessor, John Howard.
Members of Team Howard, including the former prime minister, have been shaking their heads at Rudd's extraordinary exertions of spin and the tolerance of the Canberra press gallery towards the exercise. |

Mal's been cleared of the Ozcar issue buzzBy: slr2007mclaren
Latest AFP Statement 1 July 2009
OPPOSITION Leader Malcolm Turnbull was cleared yesterday over the fake email at the centre of the Utegate affair.
Federal Police investigating a fake email Mr Turnbull used to try to prove Prime Minister Kevin Rudd helped out a car dealer mate said they have closed their dealings with him.
AFP boss Mick Keelty said police had interviewed Mr Turnbull and did not need to deal with him again. "Our interaction with Mr Turnbull, as far as this matter goes, is complete," Mr Keelty said.
Mr Keelty also defended his decision to reveal that the email at the centre of the political debate was a fake before the investigation was complete.
It confirms Mr Turnbull's statement denieing he had any role in concocting the forged E-Mail.
Mr Keelty said the decision to reveal that the email was a fake was made in the public interest to prevent undue speculation, he said.
Not to do so "would have allowed a public debate and other sorts of issues to be speculated on which were based on a false premise", he said.
"I thought it was in the public interest to at least allow the public to know that this aspect of the inquiry had been completed." |

Same date, OP's link...
Last night, the AFP refused to confirm that Mr Turnbull had been formally cleared of any criminal misconduct.
The police chief's comments followed government accusations that Mr Turnbull was "intimately involved" in the matter. |

Thnk you topsy. I found this bit particularly enjoyable....
"The embarrassing destruction of the Opposition's case against Mr Rudd caused support for Mr Turnbull to plunge in opinion polls this week and sparked speculation his leadership could be under threat.
Mr Turnbull has disappeared from public view since Sunday and his office won't reveal where he is.
Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey, who has been put forward as a possible alternative leader, refused to comment yesterday when he was asked if he had any desire to be Opposition Leader." |

Interesting CKT. Do you think the aussie public would accept Abbott? He made a huge c*ckup with his own statements (eg think bernie banton), and has spoken his mind (good and bad) on a number of issues. Can you see him as a the next PM? |

BTW topsy, where in your article do the afp clear Turnbull? All they say is that they have no further need to speak with him.
Now that could mean that they have enough evidence to hang the dog. |

It could lead to a rise in donations to the Liberal Party by Philip Morris, at least, topping up their depleted campaign funds

The FIRST line is an assumption by the media
It is NOT a quote from the AFP
The second line IS a quote from the AFP
It says they have finished the Malcolm Turnbull interview
The investigation is still in progress
At NO stage have the AFP released a statement saying ANYONE has been 'cleared'

Abbott blames all governments for Indigenous gapABC
July 2, 2009, 4:02 pm
ABC News
The latest report on national Indigenous disadvantage is tragic, the federal Opposition's spokesman on Indigenous affairs, Tony Abbott, says.
The 'Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage' report shows improvements in just 10 out of the 50 indicators measured by the Productivity Commission.
One of the statistics that has worsened is the rate of child abuse, with Indigenous children now six times more likely to be abused than non-Indigenous children.
Mr Abbott says it shows there is a lot that needs to be done to make a difference.
"This is a very disappointing report and it does reflect ill on all governments of both political persuasions," he said.
"But the essential problem here is the doctrine of exceptionalism which has been far too prevalent for far too long."
Mr Abbott says governments have had many reports detailing the extent of the gap over the years and more action is needed on the ground.
"Rather than having more partnerships and endless consultations, I think what we really need to do is to try and ensure that the same reasonable expectations are adhered to in respect of Aboriginal communities as applied to the general Australian population.
"And we could start by trying to ensure that 100 per cent of Aboriginal kids are enrolled at school." |
