Not surprising though since a mindset of envy and subversion is the standard motivation of all leftist politics.

And that is of course why no one votes for the only left wing party we have..The Socialist Party.

tut tut, the Greens look like US Republicans compared to the nutjobs in the Socialist Party.
Its just easy and lazy politics for the extreme right to invoke the "anti everything" scare campaign of the 50's to try and scare people off the Greens.
As we know from experience the very people who instigate these lazy fear campaigns end up to be similar to the corrupt, self serving, wife beating, alcoholic, druggie Nixon. Or the mincing, cross dressing Hoover.

Not a lot of thought went into that one eh? - The Greens ? - no policies, on plans, no ideas.

It`s no achievement to find fault with the world, but it`s another matter to be responsible and provide for others.

not so - all pollies are equally prone to corruption, left or right. neither the left nor the right are necessarily inherently more susceptible.

Sounds like commie talk to me. Responsible and provide for others? Its an individuals job to provide for themselves not the govts, unless your advocating socialism.

Not so poodle, and I`m not only accusing leftist politicians of a high rate of corruption, but all leftist systems. The mindset of the left is closer to the condonance of corruption than all others.

okay, I suppose anyone can be a bit slow on the pickup at times.
I can see your argument against welfare - "Its an individuals job to provide for themselves not the govts,", which I agree with.

But you`ve totally missed the point re the Government`s responsibility of providing for others. - This was meant to state the obvious in that the Government has an obligation to implement effective policies to provide for the livelihood of it`s constituents.

Somehow though, this simple statement was edited into stupidity to the point of total misinterpretation.

UPDATE

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh swapped Parliament for the courtroom on Monday as a witness in the corruption trial of the former cabinet minister Gordon Nuttall.

Nuttall, 56, has pleaded not guilty to 36 charges of receiving secret payments from two prominent businessmen.

It is alleged the payments were made when he was a minister in the government of former premier Peter Beattie.

Ms Bligh was asked if Nuttall ever made her or Cabinet aware of this payment and she said: "No he did not."

But the Premier told the court she did remember a paper that had gone to Cabinet recommending Mr Shand for a role as director of the state's workers' compensation scheme, Work Cover.

She said she did not recall Nuttall raising any possible conflict of interest.

But defence barrister John Rivett further grilled Ms Bligh, asking her about her own thought process in not declaring a family holiday she had had in the home of Ros Kelly, a director of the construction company Thiess.

Ms Kelly is also a former federal minister.

Ms Bligh told the court she and Ms Kelly had been friends for some years

"My genuine view was that my visit didn't need to be registered because it didn't fall into the category of a gift or a conflict of interest," the premier said.

Ms Bligh is believed to be the first Queensland premier to give evidence in a criminal trial.

Outside the court she made reference to the state's watershed Fitzgerald Inquiry into official corruption in the 1980s.

"The fact that a minister can be charged, that a premier can give evidence for the prosecution, I think says how strong our justice system is, and 20 years on from Fitzgerald I think that's a very good thing," Ms Bligh said.

I find Rudd's short sharp responses are probably lies eg Dinner with Bourke "didn't know he was going to be there" Scores "too drunk to remember", "rang and apologised to my wife" Vietnam Dawn Service "no-one in my office organised anything"
Then I look at his response to The Email "it's is a fake, a forgery, a fraud" is he telling a lie or just describing himself?

UPDATE....

FORMER Queensland premier Peter Beattie has told a court a former minister in his Cabinet never declared any conflict of interest he had with mining executives Ken Talbot and Harold Shand.

Giving evidence via video-link from Los Angeles on the fifth day of Gordon Nuttall's corruption trial, Mr Beattie also said the former minister never declared the receipt of $300,000 from Mr Talbot between 2002 and 2005.

Mr Beattie said Mr Nuttall, 56, also failed to declare a $60,000 payment from Mr Shand in 2002.

"No, never,'' Mr Beattie told the Brisbane District Court.

"I would have remembered them, absolutely, and I would have taken certain actions had I known.''

The evidence was supported by former deputy premier Terry Mackenroth, who also briefly took the stand today to give evidence against Mr Nuttall.

Mr Mackenroth testified Mr Nuttall had failed to declare a conflict of interest during the two cabinet meetings the former deputy premier chaired in Mr Beattie's absence.

Mr Beattie said he was well known for taking a puritanical view towards ministers receiving money from people who had business interests with his government.

There's a Labor man I have always liked. I don't know why, just seemed a pretty fair fella every time I saw him.

Probably because I hated Bracks and Carr so much..

'why did he leave the job in such a hurry??????'

He DIDN'T
He was there for TEN YEARS
He left mid-term to give the new leader time to make her mark and managent style a chance to be recognised and appreciated befre the next election

A strategy that paid off
The Government was re-elected for a record FIFTH term
And Anna Bligh was endorsed by Queensland, in her OWN RIGHT
