It seems like they have left out the carers of children, those of us with diabled children on a carer allowance will now only recieve $600 ... What happened to the $1000 per child with disabilties to help out that was promised this year as well , to paid for by 1st July ...
Geeez I voted for labour, Im almost regreting it now !!! |

| I suggest you go and look at all of the details of what's on offer. Go to www.budget.gov.au and type carers into the search function. I'm not saying you will be impressed, just that there is a bit more detail. |

| Hi all I was also looking for info about the carer's bonus including the extra $1000 for under 16 yr olds and I found it in the overview pages under "Recognising and rewarding carer's"..I read it as saying we get $600 for carer's allowance plus $1000 for under 16 yr olds..hope this helps.. |

| It also states in another part that they are "one off payments" so might be the last of them..my son turns 16 later this year so I will lose my payment for him anyway...I intend to make my last bonus go a very long way... |

In recognition of their contribution in caring for people with disabilities and the frail aged, the Government will pay lump sum bonuses of $1,000 to recipients of Carer Payment and $600 to recipients of Carer Allowance at a cost of $427 million. Recipients of Carer Payment and Carer Allowance will be eligible for both payments. This is in addition to the annual $1,000 payment to recipients of the Carer Allowance for each child cared for under the age of 16.

| It's my understanding that it's $1,000 for Carer Payment, and $600 for Carer Allowance. Carer Allowance is only $90+ a fortnight and is just an income supplement to someone who can still work fulltime. Carers Payment is a lot more involved in terms of paperwork, doctors forms, income/assets tests, and provides for someone who cannot be employed due to caring for a family member, so it's more like a pension between $250-$450/fortnight. On balance, this seems fair. |

This is more than fair my only complaint is that it hasnt been guarenteed for the future. I am mum to 2 special needs kids. One I get carer allowance for as he isnt disabled enough to get carers payment for. But then I get carer payment for my younger child who is a full time job by herself.
My complaint is where is the promised money for the research and early intervention for Autistic kids ? Both my kids have ASD and since we live in rural QLD our services consist of nothing squat etc and if we want to access services we fly our kids to Brisbane.. At our own expense. |

| Ok for those of us who take a while to get it. Ok I get that you get the 600 (carer allowance) 1,000 (carer Payment) for those on those payments. But Does that mean you get an extra 1,000 per child on carer allowance as we did in October? If so anyone know when it would be paid? |

The $1000 is supposed to be paid on the 1st of July (this is the $1000 that was paid last year in October for people on carers Allowance with a child under 16 years. Hope this helps.

The $1000 annual payment for children with a disability under 16 will be paid some time in July. You have to be recieving the carer allowence on July 1st to get it I doubt it will be paid on that date. They will probably push the payment to the end of the month like they did with the $600 payment.
