Fraudster jailed for 1000 years

AN Egyptian man has been sentenced to 1000 years behind bars after scamming hundreds of people out of 280 million Egyptian pounds (about $55m).
The Giza criminal court sentenced Abdullah Kamel Mohammed, 42, for cheating 480 people out of their money over several years.
"He would promise people that he would invest their money for them and bring them good profits, but he would take the money and disappear,'' the source said.
"Over the years, he made about 280 million pounds.''
Mohammed was arrested in Cairo in November after a neighbour who had been conned recognised him and called the police.
The official did not say when Mohammed might be eligible for parole.

So let me get this straight......We spend a huge amount of time and effort and money ranting and raving about regimes that inflict stupid laws on their citizens, and going to war with them, and diplomatically pressuring them......and then we look at the laws that we've pressured them to drop, and want to enact them here????!!!! Is that right???? |

| Yesterday my answer to this thread would have been "Only in America!" I guess the question must be WHY? Will they keep his dead body sitting in the cell for 1000 years as a deterrent to other would-be conmen? Me thinks the judge may have been one of his victims. |

| 1000 years, 100 years ... who cares at least the courts have ruled effectively. Much better than 25 years (life sentence) when the age of death increases every year. At least they know he won't be out again. Perhaps 'Term of natural life' might be a better way to say it? Then again in modern day what is 'natural' life? |

Allen Bond,Christopher Skaise,the HIH parasite and other white collar criminals are nearly allowed to steal from anyone they want to and serve minamal time in gaol.
A habitual unlicienced driver gets longer gaol time than these billion dollar thieves.
We are the lucky country are we not?? |
