Va11ozman, we do not have that kind of labour shortage here. However, I am now working as a labourer on a number of building renovation jobs (for the same boss).
Funnily enough, he came to ME (I'd done work for him previously), and offered the work to me, as he said he had no shortage of people WILLING to do the job, none had the skills or experience necessary.
So, for the moment at least, I'm doing just fine. I just hope the work keeps up. |

Its true there are quite a lot of people out there who only want to get high wages for doing little or no manual labour .When the supply of people who are willing to do the menial tasks dries up ,then who will be capable of performing even tasks like ,checkout operators,mechanics,truck drivers,in the areas outside of the resourse sector .Even now its difficult to find a person capable of working in basic tasks where the hours are long and the job can often require you to get a bit dirty.A lot of people have no basic skills ,and are not encouraged to get any either.
A lot of the blame falls squarely at the feet of our education system which has succeeded in dumbing every thing down to produce at the end of 12-17 years people who cant think are unable to perform simple tasks without days of tutoring in basic skills for the work that they were employed to do. |
