A MAN allegedly locked a German backpacker in his car and tried to force her to drink wine before he raped her just hours after they met in a Darwin nightclub.
The 25-year-old Indian man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - allegedly drove the 19-year-old girl around town before taking her to a carpark outside a restaurant at Parap and sexually assaulting her.
The victim told police the pair met at Discovery Nightclub on Mitchell St on Tuesday night and left about 11.30pm to drink wine in his car.
The man allegedly drove to Mindil Beach where they went for a walk and, when he tried to kiss her, she asked him to drive her back to her friends at the nightclub.
Instead, he drove to Parap and tried to get her to drink the rest of a bottle of wine and kiss her again.
Prosecutor Sergeant Brett Verity told Darwin Magistrates Court yesterday that she continued to refuse his advances, after which he locked her in the car.
He said the man - who is in Australia on a two-year work visa - held her hands over her head, released the seat back so it lay down and clambered on top of the victim and raped her.
Later, he drove off and she escaped by pulling the handbrake on and jumping out near Skycity casino.
She told police she waved down a van with a French couple in it and they gave her a lift to Mitchell St where she reported the incident.
In the meantime, the alleged offender was stopped by police for a random breath test and after he allegedly blew over the limit he was taken into custody.
He was identified as the alleged offender while he was being processed at the Darwin police station.
The man, who allegedly blew .091 per cent, was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and medium-range drink driving.
His legal aid lawyer Louise Bennett argued in court yesterday that he had no record, no reason to flee and police had his passport.
Ms Bennett said the case would be oath-versus-oath, and until the alleged victim gave evidence ... |

| This bloke has got to be on the first plane outta here after he finishes his sentence. If found guilty of course. A DNA test on him and her should quickly settle that. |

Neither I, nor anyone I know would fit the description you supplied Mufti.
All the white Aussies I can think of only have a problem with one group in OZ, your Islamic mates.
By the way, wasn't it great news that those 5 Islamic terrorists have been found guilty. Filth like them should be deported to a country where the death penalty applies for terrorist acts. Wonder how many escaped detection? Luckily for us our Federal police are keeping an eye on filth like them.
