the professional transport vehicle drivers are the least likely ones to act like amateur traffic road-users.
Car-drivers are the most-likely ones to be in accidents, cause accidents and be a menace on the national roads.
if I was inclined to look for stat.s I'd reckon they would be there.
Careless car-drivers put the rest of us at risk of injury. they hog the road and are a nuisance. the attempt to squeeze into gaps, they over-take in the most dangerous places(forcing others to make-way for them) irresponsibly oblivious to others.
Licence ownership is a privilege, yet car-owners abuse this. |

Not true
But drivers are not entirely to blame
The problem lies with transport industry as a whole in demanding un-realistic, and un-safe schedules
The regulatory board is also at fault for allowing this system to operate, un-checked

| I`d have to agree with the original poster - I`ve seen & nearly been killed by too much stunning stupidity over the years - ban the stunners from driving for life. |

Very few people admit they aren't that good at driving. But there is a bit more to it than just getting the car from A - B. They may well be able to drive across Brisbane traffic but are totally hopeless on any road north of Noosa. They can get by with the brake slamming most days - unless it rains!
I can negotiate the Peak Downs Highway - though it is probably one of the worst stretches int he country - but I will not even attempt to do the Gateway Arterial. Man o man - how I despise it! |

| has nobody noticed the amount of signage on the road today.. it's not that people are good or bad drivers.. a crash can happen to anybody.. 1 simple lapse.. and death can occure.. it's called being human. |

| Nah the gateway`s ok if you avoid the yellow number plates --- and the ones that are "on the move" from "the worst place to be" with the brain in neutral, park & reverse concurrently. |

I'll grant you Sydney drivers have an incessant need to slam on the brakes at any given opportunity for no apparent reason, but QLDers never use their indicators and NEVER check blind spots. |

| Oh the for the topic of this thread I agree. It's the careless car drivers that are the worst on the highways while I'd rather drive alongside trucks all the long day. |

I did a drivesafe course at work. They asked everyone to rate their driving capabilites. You had to raise your hand when they said a number out of ten. Most said they were 7 (I said 6 or 5) ... yet I had driven with most that said they were 7 and I knew they were probably a worse driver then me. Anyway, the instructor then said how many of you do this?? Subtract 1 point, how many of you do this?? subtract 1 point etc etc ... ended up most that start on 7 ended on about 3 (whilst those that rated themselves lower to start didn't drop as far) ...
It illustrates the point that many people rate themselves as a lot better drivers then they really are ...
Training of drivers initially and on going training is a joke in Australia ... but cheaper to set up speed cameras then to address the issue really. |

Aw come on that`s not fair - I used the indicator once - driving a Land Rover, I was going for the wind screen wiper. |

99% of people are not good drivers and the other 1% catch the train.
Put your hand up if you think you are a great driver....
now grab the extra appendage protruding from your skull. |
