Peter Garret would have to be the most p1ssweak environment minister in history. Everyone knows that setting up a serious solar/wind powered system in line with current RRPGS guidelines is a high outlay initial expenditure. So PG limits access to those who gross less than $100kpa.
I thought the whole idea of the Remote Renewable Power Generation Scheme was to encourage the use of renewable, environmentally friendly energy.
It would seem that Peter Garrett only wants renewable energy utilised by lower income earners.
I'd very much like to know how environmentally friendly Peter Garrett's lifestyle really is...and his salary. |

Very sensible man Peter Garret saving the Tax Payer and the Government heaps.
Most lower income families have more to worry about than power schemes they cannot understand nor can they afford it even with subsidies.
And people with salaries of $100kpa if they really want these stupid eviromental schemes then let them pay for themselves.
Whatever, Garret has made a good decision everybody saves no waste on hair brained schemes more for education , hospitals and working families |

| if we means test everything, only the wealthy will have to pay their way....that means I could give up work and sit on my backside with my hand out and become a garret supporter....but wait...where would the rebates come from? |

Well garret sure wants to aid the environment! Thousands less people will modify their homes because higher home payments will mean less to spend on improvements to make homes more greenhouse friendly.
Sorry the only way that people will modify their homes is to make it affordable and if people can not afford it then in order to improve our environmental impact some people need assistance in doing so.
Instead of basically ensuring that our solar/environmental assistance industry grows and we meet our Kyoto targets more needs to be done to assist lower income earners and provide assistance to rental owners as well as government houses. |

Many people in the bush without power will not get solar rebates ever!
Only people who get rebates are those with enough money to buy a big system at one time.
We bought a few solar panels over the years , sets of batteries , never got a fookin cent, while rich doctors pubic servants got the lot for their holiday pads!!!!!!!!
You live like a hippie and no rebate.
