Hi, do you know the requirements of the hearing test i.e. if you are slightly hearing impaired can you still get a job in the mines and why exactly do they do the colour blindness test?

| hey kristyf_2003 just wondering how u went with the qfs course? have u started working yet? im thinking about enrolling in kalgoorlie, going to get my hr licence in next couple of weeks. having asked around alot in kalgoorlie, have noticed my bf needs hr licence for any kind of job in mines. think he may start out as a drillers offsider when he gets his hr. |

Kia ora Jenna,
No I believe QFS is legit. You will find it confirmed on the Aust Center link site as a recognised trainer (someone they will fund). My partner and I are making the big move at the end of the year. As well as my current job (IT), I am doing Sat morns at our local Winstones quarry, driving their dumpers and operating the front end loaders, getting some time up and hopefully make myself more employable. Also signed up for the Cert IV in OHS with SWANTAFE (still in NZ) for the same reasons above. My mate currently in the mines now reckons QFS is alright if you have no other means of getting time on equipments, but, both avenues still do not guarantee a job. However, I reckon if you are serious, and have the time to plan, get as much done before going.
Anyway, good luck to us all. |

The easiest way to check a proposition is to Google the name of the company. There are also many Internet Forums where scams may be checked. Just Google "scams" or "scammers" and see what comes up. Internet scams are just about out of control.

| yes as the courier mail said a lot of people fell for scam you have to feel for the ones that gave up good jobs maybe Rio Tinto or one of the mine companys can help employ some of these people they are realy keen and fell for the scam as mr ruming said all checked out till you paid money |

I'm not happy about it because it's not fair to the Aussies who are keen to get in... Where is the fairness in that?? I know this because I've heard this from Kiwi friends working in the mines! |

| My partner and i got done too, so don't worry your not the only ones. We both quit our jobs, but thankfully my partner starts new job on Mon. But we have 2 mortgages and cars to pay let alone rates and all the other bills flooding in with no income!! But just be aware as my partner and I were discussing, they have all your details - drivers lic. no., medicare info, and I don't know if they got u to send em photos but they asked us too. So its not just the oh god we got ripped off and scammed, it can gt worse if false identies are made! My partner and I have done our own investigations and we are close to finding their residential address so I intend as soon as I can to pay them a visit and demand answers and my money back because although I'm thankful it was only a grandand not more, its a lot of money for some, and its not just the money, its the situation we all now find ourselves in. |
