Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
You need to pass the compulsory spelling and grammar test.

Only joking. If that was the case the Super Pit would be the size of a suburban in ground pool. :-)

Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
I am very interested in getting into the mines driving dump trucks and am just wondering if all mine sites require a HR(heavy Rigid Licence) to operate in an open cut mine?

Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
Hi im really keen to get some work in the mines but not sure where to start or who to contact that'll be willing to give me a go although i have no mining experiece. However, im a very hard worker and a fast learner, ive been working on building sites for 9 years. Apart from a MARCSTA and a truck licence is there anything else you recommend i do that will be adventageous in order for me to get a job easier

I'm not trying to be funny but have you asked these people who said you need more qualifications just what qualifications you need?

I'm an electrician so I know exactly what qualifications I need...

Anyway try (08) 99635 270

The company is Troy Resources: Publicly listed very grass roots - no frills but a good foot in the door

while I was there they were desperate for anyone who hadn't worked on mines before stating the other mines have a tenancy to mis-train their workers..

good luck

Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
Hi,
my brother is curently looking around on how to get into the mining industry. He is 19 years old and has no previous experience in working in the mining industry. He is very eager to commence work with any position available that doesn't require experience. Your help would be most appresciaive.
Kind Regards
Alicia Butler

Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
Ok Alicia,

At 19 I would hope your brother has some skills perhaps he can get a heavy vehicle drivers license if he want to drive trucks, or even front-end loaders etc..

When I started your chances of getting a job was increased 100 fold if you inquired for jobs in the mining town itself, if you are in Perth sometimes it is worth biting the bullet and drive to Southern Cross or even Kalgoorlie - once there go to the local pub where the older gents hang out as the younger crew are full of *** and will tell you any thing you want to hear.

Park up at the bar be nice and make a few inquiries, don't expect to get a job offer on the first night or at the first pub. If you come home with no job prospects you've lost nothing and at least shown you are genuine and had a good look at the places you would be likely to work.

I've spent years in the mining industry and my preference will always be drive-in drive-out hand over fist over Fly-in Fly out. The reasons are many and varied but you get a sense of where you are in this state and importantly, you get a sense of independence with a vehicle, when in the mining game for 24 hours a day and only getting paid for 10 - 12 that leaves a lot of time for exploring or discovering the joys of the bush.

The real answer is don't expect to get a job with the mining companies straight-up...you can work for many of the sub contractors that support the mines!

Get off ya date get to where the action is and you'll get a job.

That's how I found it anyway....

Ps The trick is not getting into the mining industry its getting OUT!

cr3ation3 and Ramzls

Try this link:

https://tbe.taleo.net/NA5 /ats/careers/jobSearch.js p?cws=1&org=AMMS&lang=en

Be sure to REMOVE any blank spaces in the link above

Just checked their website and they have 15 vacancies - always employed welders laborers and belt splicers when I was there...

They were based in Southern Cross not a bad town by goldfields standards and only 3.5 hours by car from peth

Check them out and get back to me on this forum...
good luck

Re:Mining Jobs Reply to this message
The blank space is between the NA5 and / as stated remove the space and the company is AMMS of Southern Cross

be quick because this will create a bit of extra exposure and 15 jobs will go fast.

It appears that you haven't been paying attention to what I was trying to tell you guys!

Don't look at the web site and say they don't need welders give the mofo's a call or go and drive to southern cross and knock on their door...

It's that simple.... if you are dinkum you'll do it..

AMMS do a lot of 'shutdowns' tomorrow they might be screaming for welders....

in the mining game a lot of companies don't differentiate between boilermakers and coded welders..

alot of the guys I saw weren't even 'coded' their was one guy working for AMMS who didn't even do an apprenticeship and was working as a boilermaker

If our company is successfull in our bids on Olympic dam, the office on site will be bigger than our Singapore office, it is going to be a huge project.
