im a 24 year old mother of 2,one who is almost 3 and the other almost 2months,i am finding it very hard to meet other couples in the same age group and would like to meet couples in similar circumstances.i am part of a mothers group but all the other mums are at least 8years older,i would really like to hear from people in the same situation that also would like to talk or even become friends

So what if they are 8 years older. I'm 34 and have alot of friends who are 5 years older and friends who are 10 years younger then myself.

Try to pick a mixture of friends eg; ages or different races and backgrounds.

Tend to agree with midnight, what has age got to do with making friends? You will find a multitude of differences between mum's in any playgroup/care situation but their connection is children. Not age.

Cas , maybe try different playgroups ? I was only 18 when I had my first and 23 when I had my fourth , but I knew a few other Mums that were around the same age.Or maybe start your own playgroup for Mums under 25 ? I know raising kids is the same for all ages but young Mums face different issues , just like older Mums do.It would be good to talk about these things with people who know what you're going through.

Try community centres for mums too ... I know we have a local young mums group near us ... surely there are heaps in Perth offering this. Alternatively I have found my 'normal'friends very supportive (don't need to be parents). Many are now becoming parents and we talk about kids (feels good being the experienced parent too).

try bubhub.com.au

My partner met a great friend on that website.

She moved down to Bunbury with me and moved away from her friends, and I actually found a friend on that website for her.

She is 22 and a mother too, and although she likes my friends she wanted to make her own too (also most my friends don't have children, and children are always an issue when the other friends don't have them)
