Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
How do you work out who is a hoon? An old guy who was speeding at 1am through a 40km/h zone (where no one actually does 40km/h) was done as a hoon. Sure he was speeding but is he a hoon? It is also likely that there was no one working in that 40 Km/h zone and that the signs should not have been left out.

><><

speeding isnt neccessarilly considered hooning but driving more then 40ks over the limit ,in any zone-is!
Age is no barrier-as shown by the 78 yr old speeder over east!!

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
Greetings Bulldoost,

will write.

the whole subject of "hoon" is a bit of a worry?

Forensic people are well aware of the inverse relationship between respectability and anti-social behavior.

To many of the people on the boards i think they run around with their eyes shut and notice nothing about the behavior of others?
Essentially people hide behind the cloak of respectability so there actions will not be scrutinised. most basic form of human deception encoded particularly in the Anglo etiquete.
In part the reason the French hated the English was this dishonesty.

Classic example are the legal profession and church who commit the most anti-social acts yet hold up the banner of godlike behavior!

The big question is what thinking human being would wish to conform?

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
I stand by my criticism of the 40k speed zones in school areas.
And yes, I do travel at 40k in those zones, because I always obey the road laws. That doesn't mean that I agree with the laws.
We have school crossings, traffic lights, lollypop people. What more portection do kids need - personal body guards?. Once a reasonable level of environmental protection exists (which it did when we moved to 50k in build up areas), the next step for kids should be education, not further physical protection.
Over protection of kids does not encourage them to develop their own self-preservation skills.
I was brought up before school speed zones were brought in, and I can still recall the road safety rules that were drummed into me from the day I started school. But then again, that was back in the days when kids did what they were told.

Kinda ironic that a large number of those who speed in 40km/h school zones are parents dropping off and picking up their kids.

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
good point about the name 'anti hoon laws' it possibly could socially offend otherwise normal citizens who just make a mistake...should we categorise drink drivers under the anti wino laws, or pot smokers under the anti druggy laws or prostitutes under the anti s l u t laws, the name is detrimental and should be renamed into something less marginalising.

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
I'll support 'hoon laws' when laws people drive with courtesy. Yes, I speed, but not in an unsafe way. How is that you ask? I get as far away from inattentive idiots in their 4WD's. They don't use their mirrors, they don't indicate, they eat, apply lipstick, talk on the phone etc and I am supposed to ride along next to these imbeciles? The odds of me having an accident when I've accelerated away from the pack, leaving me 50m of clear road in all directions, is miniscule compared to if I was doing the speed limit with the rest of the plebs. And I only get one chance, you change lanes into me, I'm as good as dead. 'Sorry I didn't see you' is no consolation.

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
hi, Im not sure ive done this right, I clicked reply to this message but I'm just adding a reply to the whole thread.

yesterday I was driving out to pick up my daughter, came to the intersection of a busy road and a big highway.as always i came to a stop to check the road, there were three small cars far in the distance so I pulled out (in my deisel 4wd which doesnt have a very fast pull away) a few seconds later there is screeching tyres and honking behind me so I immediately pull in to the emergency stopping lane, some guy swerves around me (at high speed) and carries on. I didnt stop - he made no indication he wanted me too.

I passed him at the next set of lights just a bit up the road, and he was writing down my licence plate number, and so was some other woman in front of me.

I always check the road carefully before I pull out, I make extensive use of my mirrors, I don't speed, and I am courteous on the road (i let ppl in when they indicate, i accept that sometimes ppl make mistakes etc)

i was not in the wrong here, there was plenty of room to pull out, hundreds of meters between me and the traffic - and the cars were all in the rh lane when I turned. This guy must have been speeding and changing lane as I pulled out and in fact had more than enough room to slow down if he needed too, but instead made a big theatrical show of screeching to a halt several seconds later attracting lots of attention from other people who didnt see what happened but took my licence number anyway.

personally I believe any laws that allow people todob each other in are a bad thing because people cant be trusted to be honest, the man who screeched up behind me will lie when he calls the cops and so will the woman who was in front of me and saw nothing when she calls and I will be in a situation where two people will claim I did something wrong and nobody comes forward to tell the real truth.

laws like this allow people to cause trouble and feel important and righteou ...

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
and just as a little off topic join-in-ery I drive a 4wd because I moved to perth from a farm where the house water supply came from a dam over a kilometer from the house down a boggy sandy hill, we kept it because we love to camp and explore and i have never had any trouble parking it, reversing it, reverssing trailers with it or any kind of driving with it.

when I talk on the phone i use my hands free kit, i dont drive along applying lipstick, i constantly use my mirrors (all three of them), and always turn to look in my blind spot

people in tiny toy cars take their life in their hands driving at high speed in heavy traffic and I am sick of them acting like i should trade down to a small car just because they cant afford a good one.

both the ppl i refer to in the above post were in tiny two door hatchbacks, i didnt notice anyone in real cars taking my number down, only the angry toy car drivers, its like how tiny dogs are always the most aggressive, ever heard of small man syndrome? well it works with cars too.

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
well in response to your first post the police will do nothing if those drivers report you, I had a car bump me (because I was doing the speed limit and they wanted to go faster, so bumped me from behind) so rang the cops when I got home with the cars details, they didn't care.

In response to your second post it is probably best not to stereotype, the car does not determine the driver (or their attitude).

luvcooka
I'd doubt you could skillfully handle an EJ with hydramatic.
Secondly commodores are nothing special, everyones got one, and value sinks faster than the titanic.
Thirdly, you must be from Port Kennedy or Armadale, they've got high class ho's that luv low class boguns.
Fourthly the doctor thre away the best part of you away when you were circumcised.
Fifth - Your not the smartest tool in the shed, ie this or similar applies to you "2 years ago I couldn't spell trades assistant, nows I iz wun"
And finally - DO YOU KNOW WHO YOUR FATHER IS.

Re:Anti Hoon Laws Reply to this message
you obviously don't own a nice car or it is "standard"...

Fast car, i dont know whether you are ignorant or just plain stup1d but it has nothing to do with whether you have a nice car or not. Because when you crash it and end up killing yourself, trust me when i say it wont be looking pretty at all and i doubt anyone would give a toss.

I remember when my sister was nearly killed by a guy who was drunk, going over 100 in a 60 zone and ended up killing himself and an elderly man on holidays from victoria. My exact thoughts were, "Im glad the *** is dead but its too bad about the old man". When you race on roads that dont even belong to you, you put other people at risk and you might not care right now because you could be an immature little f@ck but i wont hesitate to get out of the car and kick your head in.

When you have finally grown up, you will look back on the past and think what a stupid d1ck you were. Trying to be a man and yet you are just a little boy in a little country. I would be very careful if i were you. You might just p1ss the wrong person off.

Hoons around our area must have lots of money to keep replacing the tyres that they leave all over the road in skid marks.
