actually, currently, only 70 countries have dls... that is well short of 95%... there is (accounts vary) between 203 countries (192 un members) and 262 countries and territories in this world of ours... in either case, 70 countires form from just about 1/3 to 1/4 in another form 33% to 25% of all countries...
now, from industrial countries china, japan, india, some states in canada, iceland, most of brazil, mexico, some states in usa - do not have dls either...
form countries whihc did have dls - several quit this folly as not contributing to anything except annoyance factor, these are: pakistan, south korea, philippines, taiwan...
and yes, it is big issue as this is plain stupidity! if majority decide that they do not want it - why we should have it?!? it was proven several times, by researchers in usa, germany, france, even australia, that there is no economical advantage to that folly! only what is keeping it alive is government... and how it will solve economical problems is beyond me! will it increase production? change bus line pattern?
move it back, forward or indeed sideways! i do not care! but leave it there! |

This is a big issue in 2009 to the sandgropers , it was also a minor issue in 95% of the rest of the world who already have it , you guys are letting the WA whinging poms call the shots, stand up to them, you can do it !!

off topic-did anyoen hear the ABC 7pm news item about Channel seven Stokes takeover and Yahoo7 message boards Tues nite-using it as the official news vehicle or something;I missed most of it and cant find a reference on the net!

Iceland?
Don't they have 24 hours of daylight in Summer anyway. They would hardly be a candidate for DLS.
Virtually all of Europe has it, All of the USA (except for about 4 states) etc. In other words, most of the places on earth with a culture similar to ours have it.
Equatorial and tropical countries (lower latitudes) generally do not observe Daylight Saving Time. Since the daylight hours are similar during every season, there is no advantage to moving clocks forward during the summer.
Here the winter/summer dalight hours are significantly different. |
