In the interests of Democracy these issues need to be churned over every few years, times change etc. But by gee it is a ridulous idea.
Pro DST people, ever heard the tale of "The Emperor and his new clothes?" the Flat Earth Society?
I cannot believe that modern society can be so Mediaeval and fool themselves by turning the clock 1 hour forward.
It is a massive inconvenience to people.
There, thats my 2 bobs worth!
Cheers to all and dont let it get to you. We can all vote on it in 3 years time. |

| At last a sensible and valid answer - well done on the thoughts that you have put into this., it made for interesting reading and maybe all those doubters should read this and reconsider. If the Kids won't sleep its only because they don't get enough play action during the day. Get them up and playing instead of sitting in front of the computer |

| Maybe a bit more discipline is the answer here not a handball. The kids in the UK and eastern states go to bed just fine when it is still light, why can't the WA kids? |

| How dare they drag us kicking and screaming into, not the future, but the now. Gee, this means I will be able to spend more daylight time with my family. Shock horror, we may enjoy it. DLS is the norm in most places, and being ex dairy when we had it there was no detremental effects on the cows. I took off their watches and covered the shed clock. |

STOP BAGGING THE WEST.....who really cares that things are different over there than with all eastern states, the differences are one of the reasons I am moving there, I have had sunday trading here in tassie now for arouund 4 years and yes I like it but its time for a change, its one I am looking forward too and am going to enjoy.....there is nothing wrong with daylight savings at all, infact I will enjoy being in the west and being able to go fishing after tea if I would like, or just sit at home and watch telly...
the west is one of the best states in this country, infact the best outside of tassie so again STOP TAKING THE PISS of an amazing part of the world.
thank you |

I discovered a cure for cancer, completed a workable blueprint to bring peace to the middle east, made signficant progress in room temperature superconductivity and still had time for a barbie.
Thanks daylight saving. |

Re: DLS, you all fooling yourself thinking having “more” time.
W.A. NT & Queensland where unique with not having it. I’m still not convinced of the so called benefits.
All I know is I have to adjust more timers for electronic gadgets and I got 2 many of that (Smart-power/pool-pump/re ticulation/Solar booster not to mention all the entertainment recorders etc).
Daylight is governed by Universal rules and it’s up to the individual Person what he or she does with it.
All this does it makes lives more difficult (flight times etc).
Besides, these days with Internet & fantastic communication, I as one can do my Banking business 24/7 anytime.
So come on with a genuine legitimate reason and convince me why we need to adjust our clocks. |

oh stop it, dayligt savings is one of the best things ever and I hope that WA people see the advantages, I saw one answer that read he got to wash his car after eating tea, and thats just great, also fishing or a walk after tea and there is still sunlight so I think all the advantages are there for all to see and when I get to Perth next week it will make things just abit easier for me, its also easier if you are making phone calls interstate like me.....now please embrace daylight savings as there isn't anything wrong with it at all.

| How is unique that 3 states don't have DLS Those 3 cover a lot of the country. Washing cars - have you heard of water problems? How do people in the east get their kids to bed on time - they don't - simple. |

| Very much so now, all WA might need one day is 7 day trading although I would be happy without it, I get in next week and it'll be nice with things being quite on Sundays instead of all these little kids running around and making our towns and cities a mess. Little bogans |

well WA now has daylight savings so it may only be a matter of time as to when 7 day trading is also permanently bought in to the state, its already in for cristmas and easter periods so why not the rest of the year??? Personally though I could probably get used to not having 7 day trading all over the place when I get to Perth, it WILL be nice to not have little bogans from certain Perh suburbs running aorund causing havock for everybody else. Namely Armadale.....and parts of Beechboro, not that nice from everything I have heard from mates, my partner and others.
cheers
Mitch
soon to be in Mandurah-carn the south coast, surf, sun and beaches all so close to Perth |

I think aunty is serious about getting kids to sleep with DLS.
My 2 year old won't go to sleep till it's dark. Maybe he'll get used to it, maybe not. |

| I am serious about both points. You know people in the eastern states would drink recycled sewer water so they can still wash their cars. Stupid! Its a hunk of metal not a living entity. I've done DLS a couple times. I remember tossing and turning in the heat of my bed trying to get to sleep. If you think we all went out as a family because it was light, you are deluded. (we were not allowed out after bath and dinner 6pm no matter what) We still sat in front of the news, current affairs and whatever other news was on till we flaked out and got sent to bed. The floor was cool and the lounge room was dark. The bedroom was not. |

ausgal - I didn't say it was dark at 6.30pm, I said AFTER 6.30pm which means its not needed. It might be good for those in the southern states where its dark by 5.00pm, but not here. |
