Ok for all you guys out their wanting to break into the mining game is easy.. I was a debt collector in sydney and really wasnt happy so i started to investigate around untill one day my boss pissed me off then i resigned. 2 days later i flew to perth, stayed with relos and started to look for work with a few different companies.. Mind you i did meet a customer who's father worked for a drilling company in WA and yeah i called him and he told me about drillers offsiding.. So i called them, interview that arvo, then medical the next day, followed by the induction then flew out to woodie woodie mine site the next day..
Since mining i been flying to bali every week off.. usually 2/1 but every so often i do 3/1.
All i had was a HR ticket..
If you don't i do recommend u do get it..
I recommend you do first is..
HR ticket - u will be driving on public roads
First aid certificate - it helps
Marcsta - most companies do their own site induction but it does show them ur done the basics and ur keen when ur applying for any positions.
Police clearance certificate - they will ask u to get one anyway but just saves time and once you have it, it last for 5 years i think.
I cant think of anything else at this stage but i'll think about it more and update this..

| Oh yeah once your at the site you will meet many many pple from different companies and the more you talk to pple and they know u thus they can advise you on opening postiotions with in their company etc.. so it does pay to talk to the guys and yeah.. u get the idea.. |

hey man, drillers offsider jobs are one of the easiest to get, & one of the hardesto to do - expecially if its exploration drilling (yuk). You can sleep in a manky old caravan for 2 or 3 weeks or under the stars. If you don't pull your weight you will be ostrasized (?spelling) from the rest of the team.
Then of course.... there's UG drillers OS, hard slog |

Yes offsiders are easy to get but the point is that its a foot in the door for pple to get in the industry.
Yes it is hard yakaa but money good especially if ur on metre rate.
Also UG exploration drilling is hard core, i only did it for 3 months then went back to surface. Not all exploration drilling is under the stars or in a caravan. If you can handle it cuz ur only their for the money. |

Hi guys
Not sure if its of any interest to any one but there are jobs going at Darwin with McArther river mining but you have to be based in Darwin both me and hubby had applied but we cant fily back to vic on our week off they are currently on 2:1 roster but will be going to 7 days on 7 days off the 7 nights on 7 days off starting in oct we both have mining experince for coal and mineral sands.

Hi There,
i have been unemployed for the last two months . I have a little bit of experience in quarries and work in Roxby as an asbiulder for PIDs for the site.. I was wondering if u Know of any jobs going for a FIFO and I’m willing to work 2on/2off….

Hi everbody,
I am trying to get a job up at Prominent Hill SA, through Oz Minerals driving a dump truck with no success.
I have a HC licence and currently driving a truck & dog in earthmoving, I also have my white card and a senior first aid cert. if there is anybody that can help me i would really appreciate it.

| Hi there i am a female in QLD and i drive excavators Dump trucks and loaders, the best way to get into the big dump trucks is to get yourseld into a articulated dump truck first in QLD there is no licence needed to drive one just a car licence and a blue card there are alot of companies that will take you in one and give you some training they are all automatic and very easy to drive like i said most companies use these smaller (25 to 40 Tonne) machines to get you going in dumpies then if you go well with them they should give you a ticket for the larger quary one just make sure you join a comany that has those bigger dumpies. |

I work in WA on the Hope Downs site with Rio Tinto, You will find that DT workforce & Skilled do most if not all the recruiting for Rio,a great website to register with is mineblogger.com.au they will tell you what jobs are going & where, I found this a real help when I was trying to get in, the other is if you know anyone at all that can pass your resume on! it's really hard to get people to do it as if you do get a job because of their referral and do the wrong thing out there it can affect their employment. |
