With due reference and acknowledgement to the thread originally started in the ACT discussion group, I thought perhaps it might be an idea to spread the word about restaurants in Perth.
Perhaps others from other states might like to add similar threads in their own state's discussion group. Make it something of a handy travellers guide here on Yahoo...
These are just a few of my choices of course -
Best seafood I've had in Perth definately comes from Kailis Bros in Oxford St Leederville.
Best fine dining would be Gershwins at the Hyatt Hotel in the CBD. Formal attire is a must!
Best "authentic" chinese at the Sun On restaurant in Rudloc Road Morley (same owners and great reputation for over 30 years!)
Best thai at Dusit Thai in James Street Northbridge.
Best steaks/pub meals at Carine Tavern, Beach Road Carine.
But both Mille Cafe and the Inglewood Hotel in Beaufort St Inglewood also worthy of a mention!
Best smorgasboard at Jetty's located at Hillarys Marina.
Good ambience and views at Villa Bianci on Scarborough Beach Road at Scarborough Beach. Same for both Cottesloe Hotel and OBH (Ocean Beach Hotel) in Cottesloe. Frasiers in Kings Park also boasts great river/city views with good food but can be quite $$$.
I also quite enjoy the pasta's at Fasta Pasta located on Scarborough Beach Road Innaloo.
Great mediterreanan style foods and upmarket ambience also at The Witches Cauldron located in Subiaco...won quite a few gold plates and has been highly rated for many years. Definately worth a visit! |

Cheers rygar069,
I have tried many of those, my favourite probably being 'The Witches Cauldron'.
Kailis Bros in Fremantle probably serve the freshest fish and chips out there (amongst other seafood) and I normally despise 'fish and chips'.
Speaking of what I despise - Fasta Pasta has to get a mention. Personally, I think it is disgusting.
I recently went to Arirang is Subiaco recently. Great Korean food which you can choose to cook up at the table yourself, or have cooked up for you. A wonderful, modern (yet relaxed) atmosphere. |

the very best pizzeria in perth...is little caesars in mundaring....a little shop which has won many awards...apart from the most tastiest of pizzas...the owner is the creator of the dessert pizza...you have to try to believe it...im not much into sweet food...but oh my :-))
before driving up to mundaring there is a very special hamburger place in guildford...alfreds kitchen....this place was establised in 1946...and the burgers are just how burgers are meant to taste...no drive thru..no plastic chairs..no bright lights...it opens in the late arvo and closes in the early morning...there is always a big open fire burning outside...
i have included both of the web sites because it really is worth a look and a visit...
http://littlecaesarspizzeria.com.au/./HTML/Home.ht m
http://www.alfredskitchen.com.au/index.asp
one more...the best little pub is the parky pub...also up here in the hills :-) |

If we're looking a pizza, I'd recomend Marco's Pizza on Wanneroo road in Joondanna. They make a mean Pizza there.
For anybody visiting Albany, I'd recomend the Three Plenties Palace Chinese resaraunt. The Honey chicken there was fantastic. |

Hi IC!
Yep, Alfreds Kitchen definately makes the best REAL burgers I've ever tasted.
No restaurant, nothing fancy just the kitchen, counter and a few chairs, and roaring open fire out the front by the roadside.
That place is an institution! |

My folks, in fact a great deal of the Macedonian and Greek community, remember going to Marco's after the social's in North Perth. It's great that I have been able to go and hopefully it is around for years to come. |

I enjoy the Queens on a Friday night. For me, as far as pubs go, you can't go past the fries, atmosphere and of course, beer, at Little Creatures on a warm sunday afternoon.
Can't say I've tried anything else on the menu though. |

Another great pub to recommend for family meals is the Greenwood Hotel located corner of Warwick Road and Coolibah Drive Greenwood.
Since being renovated some years ago...the restaurant area is much more appealing.
Good food, prices are reasonably OK, but best advice is to book ahead...can get quite busy at times esp Fri and Sat nights.
Its also a good place to take a first date that you want to impress without making them feel uneasy...ie nice but not grandiose or ostentacious! |

Queens Hotel on Beaufort St is OK for lunch...but that's about it IMO.
It just gets too packed with the social set out for a few drinks during the dinner service period...esp on fri, sat, and sun nights!
Nice pub, great ambience, good venue for a few drinks, but not sure as to its suitability for dining out or a dinner date.
Just my opinion.
Cheers :) |

IMO, a couple of over-rated restaurants in Northbridge would include both Simons and The Fishy Affair.
Both have been around for ages...food is OK but $$$ and the service is ordinary at best.
Same could be said for Matilda Bay Restaurant next to UWA in Crawley. Very $$$, service is overbearing, and the portions are very small! |

Great Japenese at both Midori in Hotel Grand Chancellor and Asahi in Beaufort St Mt Lawley!
Vultures in William St Northbridge is quite nice.
Portofino's at Hillarys Marina serves great food too but can be $$$.
Great mediterranean cuisine also at Vill D'Este in Outram St West Perth.
Fantastic formal 5 star authentic chinese experience also available at Burswood Casino...although be prepared to pay for it $$$!!! |

| Speaking of south perth, on Angelo St, there's a nice little place called Bocelli. Very nice, and not very expensive either. |

I would say most of Northbridge has great restaurants, from Asian to Italian (more Asian of course).
And many of the little restauransts are cheap and good quality food.
Speaking about restaurants, personally I hate the highly expensive restaurants that charge a fortune for two praws and a slice of lettuce. I am a little old fashioned and prefer a big cheap delicous meal over some piece of artwork that cost me $$$$. |

Vultures is a favourite of mine for lunch...

Silvanias in Northbridge (Harry) iconic for leb pastries and coffee....He's gone now..but can be persuaded to whip up a frenzy (request) from Charcoal Chic in Vic Park, if you can't live without :o recommend his Kafta and ladies wrist.
Yummy Cafe lunches and pre-theatre dinner...Tiamo Nedlands.
The absolute best vegetarian rest....Analakshmi..Mount s Bay
