Hi Fatboy, How could anybody forget you and your yellow Gallant. Sorry to have missed the get together that Hank organised, I heard it brought back a lot of good memories and was a real good night. Will try and keep in touch. Best Regards Peter Sloane

There is a Goldsworthy group on Facebook where you can share photos, and a Shay Gap group as well.
Cheers

Hi Danno
Whata blast from the past and speak of the devil we have only recently had a reunion at Hank's place
There was myself, Fatboy, Mad Mick, Strompy Mick, Cornell, Olive, Lank, Curtis and wives & partners - Sloanie and Harry W didnt come
We had a ball it was just like the old Goldsworthy days even through some of us had not seen each other for well over twenty years - we all agreed that the Goldsworthy years were some of the best

Had such a GREAT time in Goldsworthy and Shay Gap in 1987. Was on the Shay Gap Track Gang based at Goldsworthy with Dave Gurney, Crofty, Pommy Mick from Brighouse, Paul Gifford, Wally, Chinese Roger, Big Brian and tricky John. Merv Quinton was the boss. We built the Nimingarra extension when it first opened. So many great memories of great times and great people. Then moved to Shay Gap and drove Haulpaks. Still got photos of the WPCA (West Pardoo Cricket Association) on my wall. GReat memories of Mulyie Pool, open air cinemas, out to the coast fishing and crabbing for blue crab. Remember the track gang bus run by old Eddie and great BBqs for smoko and lunch out on the track. Remember the heat.. like an oven but loved it. The list goes on and on and on. Anyone know where any of the above guys ended up. Dont see them on the postings. It is great to see that so many people have such wonderful memories of unique place.. It is great that they share them..

Re:Does anybody remember Goldsworthy? Reply to this message
PS. Should have said in last post.. to anyone who was in G'worthy or Shay Gap at same time in approx 1987 you would remember me as the Pom (or bloody Pom) also known as Miles (The Pom) who ended up with an Ocker accent after a year in the Pilbara !!! Few other people just thought of .... Drew Eliou and Glen from the Loco Shop, Arthur from Thursday Island (the best in the whole of WA with a 14lb hammer, Ray and Earl frm Goldsworthy Gang, Janice from the Wet etc etc. Anyone out there !?!?!

Re:Does anybody remember Goldsworthy? Reply to this message
Yes I have great memories working for Goldsworthy, as a mobile plant fitter at Finucane Island in 72/73 and Shay Gap in 76/77, strewth that was over 30 years ago, where's all that time gone? I made some good mates there and would like to hear from some of them. I enjoyed the pictures on the Shay Gap group on Facebook too and recognised many faces.

Re:Does anybody remember Goldsworthy? Reply to this message
Hi Cathy, I'm Judy, used to be heavily involved in all the social events organised in Goldsworthy. If you mean little Lofty (Mike Clement) I'm sorry to tell you he passed away in South Australia on 16 February 2004. Alive and well one minute and gone the next, totally unexpected. And I have an address for Angus Fleming, but whether it's current, I don't know for sure, if you'd like to email me, janash@westnet.com.au, I will be notifying him shortly of the next reunion here in Perth.

Re:Does anybody remember Goldsworthy? Reply to this message
Hi. I have just been informed about this site. Ispent my primary school years 6 & 7 in goldsworthy then did high school in hedland when it was next door to the hospital. we used to board at finucane island then.I did not work in goldsworthy but joined the navy instead. We first moved to goldsworthy in 1966. My parents.Thelma &bill Stobie stayed there till the mid 80s. I returned in 1979 to get married and we spent our honeymoon in cyclone amy in jan 80.Still got some photos of that. I am now living in paraburdoo (just around the corner) My brothers Ron Ian & Malcolm and my sisters Margaret Alice Brenda & Sandra are all floating around the state in various places. Sad to say my brother Neil is no longer with us. My name is john stobie.Would love to hear from anyone interested in remaniscing. I really loved the town and I think that I have found its sister town in paraburdoo. Though it is a bit further to go to throw a line in. But we still duck up to tichela,Karaudren and pardoo regularly.

Hi Taffy
I used to take my guitar in the Wet Mess for a good ol' sing along - during that particular period - I do recall a Taffy who used to join in the sing alongs (good mixture of English, Irish, Scot, and Welsh repetoire (songs). The atmoshpere was electric and so was the booze. I met you through Tony Streeter (shovel operator. You may recall me Ray (Kiwi). Do you remember Alec the Scot, he was also there along with you.
